There are some very poor places in London- that was the reason for the riots in 2011, right? Each to his or her own, but I prefer the warmth and spirit of people in the North.
It's the same everywhere, no difference between London, Manchester, Bristol, Newcastle, Southampton, Portsmouth and Hull.
Pretty much every City in England has nice bits and **** bits(other than Luton and one or two other places that only have **** bits). I was born in Hull, I'm proud to be from Hull, but I enjoyed living in certain parts of London, equally I hated living in other parts(Wembley should be nuked). I find people saying London is a ****hole, just as ill-informed and inaccurate as those who say Hull is a ****hole, it's generally a point of view held by those with little experience of living in either place. The north is obviously not desolate, equally, not everyone in London is a twat. Both places have their merits, both places have their failings, apart from being different sizes, there's really very little difference.
I've lived in over a dozen Places between Glasgow and London and have had great times and had the pleasure of meeting some great people along the way. Life's far too short to be bitter about daft things like North and South, The ****e on the other thread about City and one of the local Rugby teams bad mouthing each other. Lets move on.............
Jeebus. I totally agree with this, especially the bit about being proud of where I'm from. The thing that amazes me about places like London is the really awful bits are just 1 or 2 streets away from incredible areas. Ghettos within spitting distance of 1 million quid apartments. Tis a strange place to be sure but even the ghettos have their merits.
There's way more to it than that, like OLM says. People who haven't lived or worked there seem to know more about it than they actually do. Usually Daily Mail readers too.
Airlie - last night the noble (?) lordship did state he meant the North West (well being from Guildford one part of the north is pretty much like another) and I was going on many media reports which have stated that most reserves are under Lanky-shire and the fact that the test drilling has been going on in areas near Blackpool - where earth tremors occured
Ah...that explains why your grasp of issues that affect HCFC and Greater Hull is so piss-poor then ....
dennis howell is still alive? wow. is fracking safe or not then? or is it just southern nimbies that don't want to take a chance?
I remember watching a documentary called 'Gasland' a couple of years ago and it showed more than a couple of people setting their tap water on fire after their water supplies had become contaminated following on from fracking, this in mind I'm inclined to think its a bad thing.
