To be honest , I had to travel to Wolverhampton for work on Monday , and due to this incident , I don't think I went above 65 ... And it was the most pleasant journey I've ever had , no need for last minute lane jumps or cutting people up at roundabouts due to wrong lane, has time to read signs etc , and all in all probably added 25 minutes or so to the normal trip ... Reckon I'll be sticking to that from now on, so apologies if you get stuck behind <laugh>
If you sit down and work out how much time you 'save' by doing 90 rather 80, or 80 rather than 70 it's usually surprisingly little. The only time it's significantly quicker is if you're doing a long motorway run with no traffic and no stops. Fat chance.

I still struggle to stick at 70 on motorways though.

Have recently got my first ticket for speeding (40 in a 30 zone. Yup, I'm hardcore.) Don't know how I've got away with it so far. Anyway, I've heard the awareness courses they run are torture, so I'm inclined to take the 3 points/£100 fine option. Hard to see how it will significantly affect the amount of insurance I pay. Anyone think otherwise?
Take the course every time.

A friend got caught speeding but says the only reason they did was so that they could pull out and let a lorry onto the motorway otherwise there'd have been an accident. Can they argue in any way?? I have no idea since I have an impeccably clean license.:1980_boogie_down:

Strict liability.
You (they) could ask for a court hearing instead of paying but you'd lose.

That was my thought. Granted they could just be making it up so they don't look silly. I won't rub it in to them that I still have a clean license.

I am expecting a letter any day now from a van that was on the bridge over the M74 south bound from Glasgow. Well pissed off as I knew it was there having done that route many times. They're still not doing speed awareness courses in Scotland either - twats.

Yeah, it's there most days, usually around Abington services, there's a couple of long sweeping bends and then a straight with the bridge.

Incidentally did you know that in Scotland, if you get stopped by an actual traffic car, there has to be 2 officers in the car in order to charge you, a single officer cannot charge you in Scotland.

Advice please , I was travelling home from Manchester in the early hours - an overhead camera got me about 80 which is a fair cop ... I slowed right down to about 68 and a camera got me at the next bridge too ... I checked all around there was no signs for 50 , all 3 lanes were open - but I thought I cant risk anymore and slowed down even further to around 55-60 and 2 other bloody ones got me ..... That's 4 times in 2 minutes ... Will I get banned now or will it count as one speed trap offence? I was diverted off at the Leeds junction and ended up rejoining the m62 through saddle worth , I may have missed a 50 sign as I entered -but I always thought they then were intermittently along the motorway ..... Anybody had a similar thing? Please keep usual pisstaking to a minimum , im a bit concerned about my job!
Have you heard anything yet

So far almost two weeks on and nothing through the post. Does the two week rule still apply?

I believe it's supposed to be working days and the post can't be relied upon anyway, it's often very late. I had a parking ticket that was well over 14 days, working or not.

Bollocks - that means I've got a few more days of waiting. It's is definitely 14 days though. Not sure whether it's working or just 14 days.

If you're taking about "Corroboration", I believe they've fitted the cars with video recording equipment to amongst other things accomodate a reduction in officers. That gives them the video footage as one source (time taken between 2 points in the video to verify speed matches the on screen display after the event) and the single officer (referring to their own speed in following you) as the other. They definitely have the video equipment, but there were still 2 officers the time I got pulled anyway. (slowed for a camera, accelerated after it, ****ing radiator grill started flashing blue <doh>)

I'm not sure under what circumstances the 2 officer rule is applicable these days, but I have a friend who is a traffic police officer so I'll ask him next time I see him. Obviously with video evidence, as you suggest, you would think 1 officer would be suffice, but the law can be quite funny in Scotland, and is very different to English and Welsh law so it would be interesting to find out.
