1. Fair dos but I'm more concerned about what happens in our own country. 2. EU rules, would have happened to any other government. 3. you're blaming a problem caused by bankers in Finland on Labour, again, would have happened under any other government. Both parties are as bad as each other for giving bankers to much power, same would have happened under the Tories.
I don't get it? What did Labour do? Immigration rules are set by the EU not our Government, why else has has the Tories not done anything about it and why UKIP will have to leave the EU to do something about it?
1. You know as well as I do lads who shouldn't have been sent there were killed there needlessly. Might not have happened in our country but that doesn't mean it's not an utter disgrace. 2. EU rules to an extent but our soft benefits system and willingness to pander to people who offer nothing to our economy and fail to integrate within our society helped ensure that England was prime location number 1. 3. Agreed, the Tories are just as bad. I don't like the Tories in the slightest and wouldn't vote for them as it stands as they don't look after my interests, that doesn't make me like Labour anymore when they also don't look after my interests. I'm in no way saying one party is better than the other mate. Labour simply made an utter mess of their time in power, perhaps if they'd stayed in a while longer we'd have recovered the same as we have under the conservatives, perhaps we'd have been better. Who the **** knows?
1 I agree wholeheartedly. But it's worth remembering that it was approved by Parliament, meaning all parties signed off on it. 2 A system shared by both parties. Immigration has been rising since the 60s mate, it's not an alien concept which only appeared when Labour were in power. If you haven't noticed it's continued to get worse since the Tories have been in. One thing I won't throw in their face as I know full well that their hands are tied by EU Law. 3 is the same a 2 for me, it was happening which ever party was in power. We're recovering because of a Canadian bloke grafting his arse off for us. Which the Tories are enjoying taking credit for.
This my friend, is why me and my brothers changed the family trend of voting Labour. I would vote Conservative before that lot
It's a very real concern that people treat politics like they treat football teams and vote with blind loyalty. My vote is there to be won by any ****er who can show he/she isn't useless. That's why I' yet to vote.
Not at all for me, I'll vote labour because of my place in the class system. If I come into money and find myself comfortable you bet your arse I'll be voting Tory. Some can base their vote around the foreign policy of a previous government, me, I'll be basing my vote based on my own and my nearest and dearest's circumstances.
It matters not who or which party is in power ,from the late sixties everything i have got has been through hard work ,lots of people dont want to work and are happy to sit on their arses on handouts ,some have little or no choice but a lot do and choose not to,when i was young the labour party represented the typical working families but now its hard to believe the changes within the structure, who do you pick ,total overall good for this country or a personal vote with most gain for yourself. I know one thing politics is not talked about as much any more in the bars it seems as though there is an acceptance that all the buggers are useless whatever.
And the same Blair who should be tried for war crimes? Him & that **** Bush. WMD,WMD,WMD,WMD. Horseshit Reg. Several years on & nowt has been found. Took the country to war on a lie, in which several British troops died. I'll probably be dead in a few years but if I live to be 100 I'll never vote labour again. They sold out what they were formed for in the first place. Sorry mate but they'll not get my vote. Not that it matters like as where I live they'll win it easily & we'll have that ****er Jones back in.
Amen to that, Billy. For me, his legacy will always be: cronyism (e.g. his old head of chambers got made Lord Chancellor), greed (he introduces the Human Rights Act and his wife immediately opens chambers specializing in it), war crimes (Iraq) & spin (Alistair Campbell telling MPs to stay "on message"). Now he makes £300k a pop giving speeches and goes round telling everyone what they ought to be doing. Twat...
If I remember rightly it was broadly an all party consensus that voted to back the USA over Iraq...Also Blair's government was responsible for introducing the minimum wage which stopped the virtual slave labour wages of under £1 an hour that was common place under the previous Tory government...Yes, mistakes were made regarding Iraq, but on the whole I firmly believe that his government resided over the fairest society in my life time..
All party consensus based on Bliar telling everyone that Saddam had WMD that he could deploy in 45 mins! Even that would no have been so bad, except it later became clear that he was committed to going in anyway. As for the economic argument, he inherited a healthy situation from Ken Clarke and then let Brown piss it up the wall on generous benefits we couldn't afford and hiring tens of thousands into the public sector (who promptly got laid off in the recession).
Try telling that to the mothers & wives of lads who came back in body bags. From a conflict we had no right to poke our beaks into & btw, wasn't backed by the UN. He had his cock so far up Bush's arse, he was cleaning the fella's teeth with his foreskin. Blair may well have chucked the odd few coppers to the poor but he gave a hell of a lot more to the rich. He'll be remembered as the man who brought peace to Northern Ireland. I'll remember him for one thing. Being an out & out liar.
Billy out of interest mate, do you think Bush and Blair would have paid any attention to Putin when he told Allied Forces they face consequences if they attack Syria? I for one think they'd have told him to get f**ed, and waded in. Instead, the two leaders let Putin buttf** them and the situation got out of control. I ****ing hate Labour but I prefer a leader who has a set, rather than slugs like Cameron and more so Milliband.
As an ex service man you got to respect Billy's views of Blair. I just find it strange he's turned on the party long term. Blair, Hoon, Straw, Cook and Robertson, none are mp's anymore, the players in Iraq have gone completely. Times change. I don't blame Cameron for Thatchers mistakes, that's backwards, I blame Thatcher for Thatchers mistakes, I blame Blair for his mistakes, I blame Cameron for his mistakes. But I'd never hold other people to account for others mistakes. So I'm a bit miffed with Billy's stance. But it's his democratic right so it's got to be respected.
Robin Cook, now there's a man I did respect, he had the balls to stand up to a war monger. I like you Brian but your statement leaves me a little curious. It's a bit like saying, 'oh we can't hold the Nazi Party responsible for Hitler's actions & we can't blame the Communist Party For what Joe Stalin did.' Who I vote for is between me & the ballot box, but it definitely wont be LibLabCon. Nee bother though, you're a smashing lad.
More of a case of I hope lessons have been learnt regarding Iraq marra. At the end of the day, invading Iraq was signed of by all of parliament, eggs on faces of all parties. Weather the evidence presented was formulated by Blair or we were made mugs by the yanks who knows, we never got the transparency, Surely it could never happen again could it? Like Sid on the other thread, they're all kernts, but my vote will go towards ousting the Tories as they've made my lady's life hell, set her back years in her treatment, which is no longer being offered due to her deterioration. You're a top bloke Billy. bags of time for you.
