I like the nickname. If the club ever went down the better branding name like Hull, I would obviously prefer a reference to the Punch but Tractorboys is unique to us. Any club who wears blue could be the blues/super blues. I also like the self depreciating nature of it. As others have mentioned, it's a much more effective way of rubbing in salt.

I remember we had 2 of the beautiful beasts on our farm near Halesworth..and the end of harvest one late evening when a new tractor came up the quiet lane with blazing lights...scared the **** out of me aged 4! Agree with sentiments re Tractor Boys, never liked it...demeaning to us all. How about a campaign to change to....Suffolk Punchers! ha ha.. The Countryside tv prog was a fine showcase for Suffolk...as it happens we head for Dunwich & Minmere after Xmas for a break
Perhaps Ipswich should adopt a Suffolk Punch, and parade it at every home game. Crystal Palace have their Eagle which flies at every home game, so we could parade our Suffolk Punch
You mean Bluey isn't a real Suffolk Punch? Great idea on the face of it, but I doubt you could have heavy hooves on the pitch and if it did a circuit instead it would only take one silly Millwall fan lobbing a missile to make it a bad idea, they're not police horses
Now Truth that is a briiliant idea! It would a feature that all supporters could be rightly proud of...and in a few weeks...our idiot nickname could change and chants of something completely different be heard ringing around PR. I shall do some research on the might Horse shortly and enquire if any farmer/breeder is willing to do same...great promotion for them, horse and....the Town! I mean...whats with Tractor Boys...there r are thousands of so-called country cousins supporting rural teams around the country and millions of bleedin tractors!!
I Well we should be proud of our agricultural legacy though. At Temple Newsham farm in Leeds they have an exhibit of antique farm vehicles and most of it is stamped with Ransomes of Ipswich. That is a great idea about the punch though if it could happen.
