I was fortunate to see these guys live at Hull's ABC back around 1968 or so, when they were a 5 piece band. I was the only guy sat on the front row, in fact I was the only guy sat in the first 6 rows in front of the stage. I had been working on a building site in the city centre and twagged off work to queue for the tickets for my girlfriend, now wife, and myself. They were a quality act back then and remained so even though I disliked their chipmunk voices around the Saturday Night Fever stage.

Their careers hit a low point and was revived by their chipmunk period during the whole disco scene, but as with music there are those who disliked their harmonies and lyrics, not forgetting they wrote some mega hits for other stars, notably Celine Dion and Dolly Parton. I think I'm right in saying that during their Hull gig the warm up band was Grapefruit, who had just signed to The Beatles Apple label. And so another icon on my youth has died, along with brother Maurice they were 2 weeks older than myself.

There were many caricatures of the Bee Gees by Kenny Everett and it was rumored that they fell out with him eventually over it. Robin had a sublime voice, he even had solo hits when he fell out with Barry, he once said in an interview that he believed that The Bee Gees success has been balanced by the tragedy in the family, Andy died through drugs and Maurice through intestinal ailments, a kind of Ying and Yang if you like. RIP Robin you and your brothers had many hits but I preferred a song from your early days and was used in a film called Melody many years ago.

I presume the next time we have a RIP - Someone you lot respect post up here and someone makes a comment that's not very respectful, there'll be no fallout over that?

If you've got nowt nice to say on a post like, why the **** troll it? I expected better off some of you, no idea why.

Sad how an intelligent man can feel that having the ability to say it, makes it clever to. Gratuitous and ignorant to the thread. But yes. you have the right, well done in using your right wisely!

Sorry if anyone was offended by what were intended to be light hearted remarks, but this is a football forum, not a book of condolence.

The RIP Michael Jackson thread was almost entirely made up of kiddie fiddler jokes ffs.

Not into any of their music, i think disco music is utter ****e to be honest.

His work he did raising money for the Armed Forces was commendable though.

    RIP.
