Exactly, it's time they had a proper reason to perform, not just be given the authority to do as they like and have no repercussion from when the **** things up catastrophically, and be untouchable and unquestionable after. If a player gave away 3 penalties in a ame he'd likely e dropped next time, if Howard Webb gave a team 3 penalties which were never penalties he'd probably still get offered to referee the champions league final the next week and never hear anything about it again. That's what does my head in, so I'm all for this referee witch hunt, burn the bastards on a stake.
Simple solution, put refs on open mics like they had on rugby union refs a few years back. Fans could tune in on radios, and TV can hear exactly what is been said. It would help explain why decisions had been made (captains usually get an explanation), and would bring players in line (imagine what Nike would say to Rooney if millions heard him swearing at a ref? Thanks wayne but parents are angry, your not a good role model, we wont be renewing yopur multi million pound sponsorship)
Me too, but at least do it for the right reasons. This seems typical of English football to me; no one in power gives a **** about refs and let them do what they like but as soon as they are accused of saying a naughty 'racist' word it becomes a really big deal.
If Mark Clattenberg is found guilty of making racist comments then Chelsea will be left with no option but to make him captain
As well as recording what they say and hear they should publish it. Might make the players stfu a bit too with the gobbing off at the ref if it was made public.
I really think something should be done about players who are gobbing off when they are talking ****. It'd be impossible to police but what I mean is I don't mind it as much when there is a contentious decision or they feel they've been wronged but some players just tell the ref to **** off every time the game stops or when he was obviously right. Players like that do my head in.
Exactly. If they were to suddenly have their income messed with, they'd soon wise up, would be great for the game too. Im with you on that.
I'm, for one, very happy to see Mark Clattenburg sacked from refereeing, if this is sent to a tribunal at FA headquarters.
Some soft ****s got the old bill involved again Waste of police time and resources, it's quite clearly going to be verdict: not guilty.
I've always thought he's been one of the better refs when he's done our games. But being high-profile he just seems to attact media attention and every wrong decision he makes is front-page news.
P.bob you should read what happened in the NFL not long ago... might make you think twice... just type "replacement refs" actually just found this although they're reversing my point http://smokingsection.uproxx.com/TSS/2012/10/epl-soccer-recap
From Twitter Reports say the following conversation took place at Stamford bridge. Mark Clattenburg " He was on side, the goal stands". Mikel " Are you calling me a Black ****"?
