My husband says that in the fifties after Tigers matches his "crawl" was White Hart, Bluebell Inn, Corn Exchange and Tivoli Hotel and then to the City Hall dance. His dad was the licensee of the Tivoli Hotel(shut down in the 70's) when he was born. Had a little drink in the other 3 when we were last in Hull in 2010.

What was that pub in the bus station? Gingerman?

Anyway started there Saturday afternoon, bit of trog maybe and masters bar. Then back home for a couple of hours then back into town for Ye Olde White Harte, Bluebell, Black Boy, Manchester Arms and then on to Spaardars.....

    Late 80s greb days....

If I remember correctly, the pub in the Bus Station was the White Lion. But was it that one that became the Gingerman?

I never went to the Gothenburg, but I used to go to Vicky's Coffee Club late on for a coffee/half bottle of scotch/game of pool.

I used to go in the Trogg Bar a fair bit too.

One of the first clubs I went to was Bier Keller in the old town, it had several floors, some nights with different music on different floors and one of the floors had a metal dance floor(very advanced for the 70's) and on the main floor the dj was in some old horse cart type thing.

That's the one, it was on Great Union Street, I think the building's still there(but derelict).

    I never went to Ocean's 11, I can't think I've ever heard of it.

Was trogg bar in the city centre Hotel.

    Down the little alley ?

If so I use to go in there as well.

I use to go out with Carl Jackson ( Jacko ) and everyone from monte Carlo and Albermarle YC back in time .

In Bridlington I use to go in Oustons Bar , 61 Cub ( dump ) and golden Gloves night club ..

Yup White lion was in bus station and White Hart was near by with star and garter also close at hand..

I never went in victoria coffee bar / drinking den.. Heard about it though .

Pubs got spoilt when they started sticking fitted carpets in and doing them up imo... All the good old dives started to disappear :D

It sure was easy to get in pubs when underage .... First pub I went in was rising sun off Beverley road and Orchard park pub ..I must have been 13 or 14 ...

    Hull brewery mild 9 and a half pence a pint I couldn't drink a quids worth...10 and a half pints !!!

I preferred the country crawl starting off in Beverley at Nellies /Green Dragon and on to Fergie Fawsitt,Altissidora and finishing up at the Pipe and Glass before returning to Beverley for a Chicken Curry . Other times we would go miles for a tour of "Youngers Tartan " hostelries.

I,ve used Oceans 11 when it was on the go, the guy on the door cant remember his name now but he always reminded me od Sidney Poitier. You could get chicken in a basket down stairs and the bar was upstairs. It was a shady place full of all sorts and some scary people in there.

It was in The Manchester Hotel, it was the one that was a series of caves(made of chicken wire and plaster of Paris), it often had a lot of flying glass. <laugh>

Gardeners Arms on Cottingham Rd used to be very popular during the summer in the 80's.

It took that much money, the landlord went onto the Original Oak in Headingley, which had one of the highest turnovers in the country.
