Agree to the point that it should be on merit of being funny not gender. But disagree with you saying women are not funny. Victoria Wood for just one example. But as humour is purely subjective what I find funny will differ with you but not based on gender. That's like saying men are better at talking ****e.

I can read a map just fine. Satnavs were only invented so men didn't have to ask for directions when they couldn't read a map.

Comedy is personal, what is funny to some of your guys may not be remotely funny to me, it seems at the moment everyone seems to be wetting their pants at Mrs Brown's Boys, so I took a look, paint and dry comes to mind. Guys impersonating women do not float my boat either whether is was Paul Ogrady, Les Dawson and Roy Barraclough, Kenny Everett or whoever, it doesn't work for me. Dave Allen's look on life was clever and considering the religious tone to his shows at the times they were shown, IRA etc then I think he hit a good balance. There are no comedians around today that I regard as remotely funny, male or female, they are all pale imitations of what have gone before, Ab Fab was hilarious, Bottom was archaic, Morecambe & Wise were, well Morecambe & Wise, Ronnie Barker, Corbett, David Jayson, brilliant, the recent Open All Hours revival, dire. Fools and Horses, sublime, they are thinking of some new ones, I fear the worst. I have missed out many as I say its personal but the state of comedy today means that I cannot name one up to date comedian, male or female that are remotely funny to me, old?, maybe but I still like a laugh and the best laughs today seems to be on some of these forums.
