That was the Cellar Bar days. The band has gone through several members since though Dane is still there. The line up was Danny Wood Piano, Steve Larkman on vocals, Dane on drums, JJ Ingram on sax and Bri Hairsine on double bass. I used to dep for Bri Hairsine on double bass. I also used to dep at the Mint as was for a later bass player and despite living in Lincoln I joined the band in November last year. New Year's Eve will be my last gig though I've enjoyed it.

OK, Lincoln, who - apart from Dane - is still in the Boys?

The drummer from The Grip Spud worked with our keyboard player Darran and I at the Shoulder of Mutton in the 1980s. Good band and nice guys too...

All those things and a great drummer/good guy but tight as a drum at the bar! Like all drummers ... Inc Dane!

Just to answer the earlier question re Casa's - only Dane. Danny isn't too well these days, Steve became a Jehovah's Witness, god knows where JJ is..Bri H is retired but still plays some jazz.

It was them with a few support acts. Good varied night (style).

Pete was playing keyboard back up for Eddy Twang first, there was Emma somebody, not being rude I was just too wasted from Saturday night in Edinburgh to remember all the names or if I've missed someone, she was on Burnsy's show the other day, and James Hogarth's maybe? another group and then Strangeways came on with maybe 8 or 9 songs (including Can't Help Falling in Love). I'll have to plead guilty to the dancing at the front as well.

Pete is also on Humberside on Thursday at I think it's 1pm. It's a prerecorded show he's done about the Hull music scene back in the day. Loads of interviews with people telling their stories with him fronting it and James Hogarth producing.

Been told tonight that the show tomorrow is going to be repeated on Saturday, can't remember what time but since we kick off early I'm imagining it's going to be tea time or later in the night.

Also, for when he posts. Pete is now registered on here because a couple of people from here had mentioned this thread to him, and I'd mentioned a couple of previous ones. Just makes more sense for him to have the ability to reply to things directly rather than me relaying information all the time, especially about gigs. If anyone (ie the people who know him) sends a private message though can you also let me know. He won't be on regularly so I'll be letting him know when there's something relevent, and at the moment his account is set up with one of my email addresses so until I have chance to fix it up properly he won't know about them.

btw, who ever it was that text him to say they couldn't be there on Sunday but there was a thread about him could they send another text saying who they are? Technical issues with phones meant it showed as an unknown number. (I'm assuming it was this site they were talking about, but if there's the same threads elsewhere it could be one of their users)

Listening to Musical Maps last night, I heard Pete mention the King Bees. In '64, I shared a 21st do with 2 mates. The do was in the Methodist Hall on the corner of Bilton Grove/Preston Road. The King Bees played at the party.

Googled 'em up last night and came across this:

    http://www.mickronson.com/mrearly.shtml

Ronno isn't on any of the photos I've got, even though some band members are. Though this article casts doubt on Ronno's being in the King Bees at this time, Dr. Rock (Scarborough's Charles White) in his book on Hull and East Riding music, reckons he was.

Anyone know for sure? I'd love it if I found out Mick Ronson played at my 21st birthday party! <magic>

As far as I can remember(long time ago) Ronno was never in the King Bees. The Mariners & the Crestas were his main groups oops and Rats as well obviously.
Alan Colbeck ( god bless him) & Jonny Thundercliffe were two members of King Bees, can't remember the others.
