Fragile my arse. The man's a total knob. I have been unlucky enough to have him in my company on a number of occasions and he is a total twat. He took the piss out of club, country and team-mates, most of the teams were glad to see him gone so they could laugh from a distance. This guy has had so many chances and so much support that it is an absolute disgrace the way he deliberately throws it away. He prefers the way he is and it has ****-all to do with intelligence.
I'm sorry lads but its absolute bollocks that Fergie would have saved Gazza. He got rid of Paul Mcgrath etc cos he couldnt turn them around. Fergiew has a sentimental side and i think he was saying it to be nice. As Party says Gazza has M/H issues, poor family background etc. His fame and celebrity and all the loathesome hangers (Danny Baker what a ****ing ****)on didnt help with a kid with low self esteem and inner demons. He will die tragically early, and it is a real tragedy but theres nothing to be done.
Pretty sure no-one has forced him to drink booze, no-one forces anyone to drink. Could of being a top player, shame, but he isn't, due to his own doing.
I know he has always had mental health issues it's just a shame he didn't get help early enough as it seems it is too late now. As for people who have come across him and found him to be a twat well people with mental conditions do come across like that especially those that self-medicate with alcohol like Gascoigne. I don't think the same applies with Bullard and i wouldn't even mention him in the same breath as Gazza in terms of footballing ability and achievements. I agree also with who said that that cup-final and the events in it that lead to the knee injury finished him off. Tragic really.
http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/4776338/Tragic-Paul-Gascoigne-on-video.html latest story today, I hope somebody sees these stories and reaches out and helps him. I heard Beckham is donating his PSG money to charity in his latest publicity stunt, maybe helping his old team-mate out might have been a nicer and less cynical move
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/21311843 interview with his agent, very telling- if I had the money I would help him, hope one of these millionaire footballers steps up to the plate must be somebody out there with a bit of heart
He's actually a very caring bloke. If you're about to be shot, he brings you fishing equipment and a can of lager. Unfortunately, Gazza is a mess, football should have been his way out of being an alcoholic Geordie waster, but he just became an alcoholic Geordie footballer instead.
Anyone reckon Balottelli could go down the same route, too much too young. He does seem to be more than a bit mental to say the least.
Not only Danny Baker. What about Gasgoigne's bellend of a mate, one Jimmy 25 bellies, or whatever the number was?
He has had this attitude to drink , his body and immaturity all the while ive seen him since the 80s He should thank himself lucky he isnt starting out his football career as im sure the popular 24/7 media would be in absolute moral outrage in their papers sat' dishes and twitter feeds!!! he would have been eaten alive by now !
Absolutely agree with this post. Danny Baker and Chris Evans led him astray when he went to Spurs. Where are they now when he needs help and support?
Shame he never went to Man Utd when Ferguson wanted him. If he had he wouldn't be in half the mess he is today....Hope Gazza can turn himself around, but from what I have read it looks slim. The guy has a personality dis-order of some description and can't stop himself from the booze. Such a crying shame.
I cant believe people are still laughing and cheering as a man basically dissolves in front of them. The other bloke with him should've taken him straight off the stage.
Seems like what makes these guys great footballers is that they are not all there mentally, even Zidane proved he was a bit cracked in his last game. So many of the best are just nutjobs. We won't forget Taraabt last year will we in a hurry, not saying he's world class yet, a potentially great player but a fruitcake to boot
**** me, you can't be serious. Gazzas problems are Gazzas problem's not Beckhams. Gazza has earned enough in his lifetime to pay to sort himself out, not to mention the ****ing hanger ons and leeches of a family he has. As was pointed out, Gazza wasn't forced to drink, he decided to himself. He's not a half wit, or some simple minded fool, he's the same as all the ****wits you see in every town every week and despise, except he could have been a good footballer. Stop making excuses for him, he'll get exactly what he deserves, and it will be **** all to do with Beckham. Calling Beckham cynical for donating to a local french kids charity is just like the crap we see written questioning the Allams and their generosity. Damned if you do, and damned if you don't.
Well said HC, couldn't have put it better. What Gazza seems to have missed is a father figure. I suppose his own dad was/is a big pi$$-head. lay-about, ner'do'well. I saw a TV programme about Gazza about 10 years ago and he could have signed schoolboy terms with Ipswich Town, then under the stewardship of the late, great Bobby Robson. Robson could have been that father figure and who knows Gazza life and career may have gone done a different route. We'll never know.
FFS clapper if he could pull himself together he ****ing would do, He is a half wit and simple havent you seen his interviews over the last near 30 years. The last thing a kid like him needed was to be good at football and indulged by all and sundry. ye he should have grown up, ye he should have looked after himself and spotted the ****s but he didnt. He hasnt got the coping skills that others have, he had a **** family life, witness to alcohol abuse and domestic violence. A lot of the half wits you see round town had upbringings similar probably with sexual and physical abuse thrown in. Jack Charlton used to let him sleep at the ground cos he didnt like to go home as his old man was such a ****. Compare it with Beckham who had a doting father and mother. Maybe Gazza could/should have sorted himself out, but it looks like he cant. I like to remember him as a ****ing great player, the best since Bobby Charlton and still better than anyone else England have produced.
