Totally agree with the madnes s that excludes Hull from One North. As much as I love Hull, it is not perceived as a major city. When it comes to regeneration, have you driven into Newcastle recently? It leaves Sunderland flat and drags Gateshead on its coattails. I'm sorry, but Hull just does not come close. As frustrating as the road/rail anomalies are of Hull, York, Lincoln, et al, it is precisely that which gives the places character and charm - especially if the local authority can manage history, commercialization and public expectations; so, I guess, some cities are well stuffed. It's daft to think regional government makers and shakers are not aware of Hull's strategic importance, regarding ports. It's also easy to blame others. Hull needs to show vision and determination for it's own regeneration, maybe that is starting. I really do hope so.
Strange how moments come, but my daughter was born in Lincoln and after nearly 3 years of abject heartbreak she has given birth to a bonnie lass in The RVI at Newcastle, it was 2:45 today and the bairn is 4lb and 8 weeks early, and I cannot recall ever being so bloody happy!
Congrats Fez. Hope that Ma and Bairn are both doing well. My youngest was born in the RVI 19 years ago. Complications with the birth and at one point we thought we'd lost her. Delivered in a doorway on the way down to the operating theatre. Massive respect for the staff there and especially for the consultant who was raised from his bed after a 24 hour shift, delivered her, then returned to bed. I'll raise a glass for your daughter and her bonnie lass tonight.
You might recall OLM, I did warn you about you about the speed cameras. They love them in Lincolnshire, though oddly you never see a speed bump! Was it near the showground or Caenby Corner?

Thats because we are the only major city with them Same as Melton used to be the only set of traffic lights between here and Liverpool, one thing at a time
Again, strange how things link; I lived at a place called Hemswell, just down the road from Caenby Corner (Was an accident blackspot in 1975!), loved it. All looking good; thanks for the kind words.
After a brief spell on the Lincoln St and the Bailgate, I had a house built in Dunholme and then moved to Sturton By Stow! You'll know all those places no doubt? I still gig occasionally at The Eight Jolly Brewers in Gainsborough - did you ever drink there?
Aye, they all draw memories. Gainsborough was a popular watering-hole, so I'm certain The Brewers was on the circuit. It was a commonly held belief, in the 70's, that Gainsborough held the dubious honour of having the most Prostitutes per capita than anywhere else in the UK - it also had a cracking market day; not sure which drove the other!
