Why should my "ROAD" tax cover people using bikes????????????

You want to use the road and you are using something with wheels pay ****ing tax to pay for the roads.

It's getting ridiculous, cars with zero tax using roads I'm paying £240 a year for the pleasure of.
Are these zero tax cars floating over the roads?

And don't get me started on lunatic cyclists!!!!!!

There's no such thing as road tax, Churchill scrapped it before WWII, it's vehicle excise duty, which is an emission based charge for the privilege of sharing the road given to the Govt pot.

If bikes were taxed the same as cars, the charge would be zero, based on their emissions, so the admin costs would add to VED.

Cycles, horses and pedestrians use the roads as of right, motor vehicles can share it subject to conditions.

The early cart tracks were unsuitable for cars. The cycle lobby got some routes surfaced and as a consequence created the conditions that encouraged the use of cars sharing the cycle routes.

If you are going to teach me history at least get your facts right.
Churchill changed it in the twenties when he said it was ridiculous for road tax all to be spent on roads!
They didn't want the road fund as a separate tax used solely for roads.
Why do horses, cycles have automatic right?
    Cycle lobby?
Did the cycle lobby build the M1?
    You're talking about ancient history!

He started the process in the mid 20's, but it wasn't abolished until 1937, which was before WWII, but it still means there's no road tax or connection between VED and road repairs.

Yep, the cycle lobby campaigns for improvements were arguably responsible for the growth of the motor car, as the cars couldn't use the tracks.

As for why cars are suffered conditionally, and except for special cases like motorways, must always cede to the rest there as of right, it's just how it has been and still is today.
