AKCJ, I'll probably get slated for this, but Pearson is a very good manager in the sense that he can get a side punching above its weight. He's done it with Leicester, and to be fair he did it with us. I dare say he'll go if they look doomed by February/March. Though frankly, given his relationship/affinity with the club, I think that would be a short sighted move. My humble opinion is that the other two promoted sides will go down, and Pearson will keep you up and be playing in what Bruce describes as 'our part of the league'. Good luck next year apart from when you play us of course...

Stands back and waits for the abuse...

I don't care who goes down, just as long as it's not us.

What makes you think that though?

Nigel is obviously very successful at Championship level and has only improved on his playing career's reputation of being a fine leader. We'll also have a much larger budget than some of our rivals (DQPR aside).

I personally think that we're a very attractive proposition for someone looking to make a name for themselves or with someone with a point to prove. I think we're in the same boat.

    I don't get it.

What has Pearson done to suggest he's anything other than average?

Won League 1 on a Championship budget.

Had his chance at a big club but couldn't handle the pressure so ****ed off back down the league.

Won the Championship on a Premier League budget.

Is there something I'm missing? He's an average manager and an awful person.

For a start, we all know how he hates an ego so that's a fair proportion of premier league class out of the picture already. But take our signing of Huddlestone for example, he turned down offers from 'bigger' clubs and came here because he said he wanted to play under Steve Bruce. I guess there's some of that factor in our signings of Jelavic and Long as well. I can't see players queuing up to play under Nigel Pearson, which was the problem we had last time round with Phil Brown as there were always more reputable managers who would sway the deal their way.

He just doesn't have that wow factor.

LCFC are as much of a threat to us as are 8/9 other Premier League clubs.

My antipathy is purely down to the fact he left us, most people would perceive this as childish (particularly as we ended up doing better without him) but as NP would say, ‘it is what it is’.

In principle, I’m actually indifferent towards LCFC apart from NP, but of course that principle will now be negated by the fact we’ll now be relegation rivals for the foreseeable future.

I agree with the end of the thread title 'give it a rest!'

    Why should we honestly care?
