Far cheaper to wipe the laptop and install a Linux. All you have to do is download a livedisk image, burn it to a CD, then srick it in the CD drive and reboot. The rest is easier than installing Windows. I did it a few years back and would never go back. A mac for his requirements is just paying over the odds.
I went to see Paul and agree 100% with all that you put.
