Yes, but Crosby, Stills and Nash existed before Neil Young joined. The thing is, Young ploughs his own furrow - solo, with CS&N, with Crazy Horse, with the Stray Gators, with Booker T & the MGs......He does what he wants to do at the time.
The albums and concerts post Blackmore just lacked that something extra that he brought to Deep Purple. ie. Nobody can play "Smoke on the Water" as well as Blackmore.
