Ellewoods you have to forgive some of the posts on here. We see California as a small place.

Yea it was Poor Reds BBQ. The owners dont believe in taxes or paying their employees the minimum wage. They got raided for tax evasion, money laundering, a bunch of employee violations. It was the 3rd time a business of theirs has been shut down so this time they sent them to jail.

I lived in Santa Barbara for 25 years and have two very attractive blonde daughters still living there. Fortunately they were nowhere near this creep when he went on his murderous rampage. What a sad sick individual.

I think it is 2 times the size of the UK with half the population. Although really everyone lives in the LA area or the Bay area and the rest of the state is empty.

Whats the population of El dorado? Only one bar! Surely someone will take it on? Is that where you watch City games? Oh and what were the ribs like?

I will be thinking of more questions.....

I think the sign outside of town says 1700. I am sure most of those people are actually like me and live miles away from town.

Na I watch City games at home in general. The only bars that are open early enough for games in England are in major cities. For the FA Cup final I went up to Seattle to watch with my buddy from Hull.

Well its been vacant for a few months now. I think you have yourself a wonderful business opportunity there Chazz. You could just get a house at Lake Tahoe and commute into work.

I never had the ribs. I go over to Placerville if I want to go to a bar or restaurant.

What's your take on guns and carrying them Canada, being originally from the UK so not born into the culture?

I'm sure Ellewoods has given his version on the rights and wrongs of carrying them before, although it may still be interesting to see your opinions again Ellewoods, as you were born into the same culture.

Some folk here in Queensland have very similar opinions on right to bear arms etc

Far to much of it, there are over 100,000 people shot every year in the US and over 30,000 people who are killed by guns every year. You could only imagine how many shootings happen where someone isnt even hit by a bullet.

I dont mind guns, I own some myself. I think most Americans are really just resigned to the fact that there is nothing that can be done about the situation. Our Constitution is really difficult to change. Every time these things happen people get all positive about the possibility of some sensible gun restrictions but the reality of it is it will all be forgotten in a week if not tomorrow. Things like background checks at gun shows, laws allowing guns to be taken away if someone has been certified by a court to be mentally unstable, restrictions on large magazines, restrictions on assault rifles etc. might help but its beyond difficult to get laws passed like that and most likely they will be thrown out anyway for being unconstitutional. In general most of the shootings that happen every year are not mass shootings, its the man who kills his wife or the robbery gone wrong that type of thing. Those crimes tend to be committed with handguns and there is no chance that handguns become illegal. So what is the realistic answer? I dont know.

Don't want to get into a political argument on a forum which sensibly bans the distraction of politics on a football website Brisbane, but I'm a supporter of the Second Amendment which protects the rights of individuals to keep and bear arms for their own protection. I don't own guns but respect the right of responsible citizens to own them. As they say.."Guns don't kill people...people do". I won't go any further than that on here.

Torino's or Casa Ramos normally. Havent hear of the Mother Lode Motel. There are normal hotels in Placerville since it is the last "big" stop on the way up to Tahoe.

Well Cali is a good place for your future bar.
