I did seven double cheeseburgers once for a challenge (bloated to the max). I also once went to McDonald's as a substitute for buying a round one evening. I ordered 12 cheeseburgers and the employee got flustered "it only goes up to 9!". After her manager turned up he told her to enter 9 and then 3 more. No lateral thinking that one!

Are they worse than any other fast food outlet ?

In the UK I know they pay above minimum wage, they also have an excellent scheme to internally promote their best staff to management positions with jobs paying over £25k with a company car.

It's true they also have staff on zero hours contracts, but again no different to others including supermarkets which offer even worse wages.

It was reported recently that Tesco in the Hull area had staff on 3 hour contracts but had them on call 24/7 for extra work....could mean them earning as little as £20 a week

Another one of the supposed "secret" items is the land sea and air burger. Which in all honesty sounds discusting.

At the fast food place I worked at in the early 90s ( you would have probably visited on way to city) the lad who worked the sat night shift used to sometimes slip Half an acid tab in the food , he bragged worse too - he was fired a few months after I started

Go through the drive-in section but when it comes to ordering tell them that your partner has just rang you to say he's got Chinese. Proceed to the service section and they'll think you are the next customer and give you the next order - FOR FREE!

My best mates Dad owns the franchise to most of (if not all) the McDonalds in Hull and the only instance I found somebody dicking about with food, they were very swiftly dealt with. The one on St Andrew's Quay, where my mate worked, always seemed great and the staff there were treated well. As said above, the managers are on a good salary and promotion comes quickly if you work hard.

And if McDonalds didn't have CCTV, that'd work perfectly.
