What the ****? I never said otherwise, you've just made that up. Alex Turner is a cock but he's one of my favourite musicians.
Giving up alcohol and pot; giving up meat; running 10/15/18 miles before a gig. Really political stuff, that........
Well, considering you agreed with TheCasual when he said "I'm not a fan of The Smiths simply because I can't stand Morrissey", what do you think?
I like Morrisey. He's a twisted genius and also makes me laugh. The Smiths were the sum of their parts and hugely influential to me. Still isten to their stuff in my car, and as much as my daughters don't like them, they know the words to most of their songs. I'm starting to see a trend here...
I don't like Morrissey and I don't like The Smiths. I don't dislike The Smiths because of Morrissey, I just dislike them because I do. Gerrit?
The first 3 paragraphs are about musical tastes of the PM, and the following 4 are about his upbringing among others things. Really hard-hitting political stuff that. Get a grip Patches FFS.
Why are you getting so defensive? All I said was that the article was slightly political, and that's against the rules on this forum. I don't know why you're jumping down my neck.
What, the same way you jumped straight down Stan's neck by complaining about politics? Please take note of how many other people have complained about the politics in this article. Oh wait...
I thought it was political, so I mentioned it. I didn't throw insults at him. I like you, Will, but your acting like a bit of a dick when all I did was bring up the rules regarding politics. I brought up religion on another thread, and Chazz shouted me down for it and rightly so. Sorry, I just thought the article/thread had political undertones.
If you followed the rules fully, technically you would have to complain about every single thread for including politics, as everything is political. **** off from conversations you have nothing to do with.
Thanks Stan, great article. "Marr meets me at Manchester Central Library, the great city-centre temple of learning where bohemians and bookworms have long whiled away whole days." Librarys ****ing important dont dare lose them. Been saying it for many a year where is the anger, the rebellion with music these days??
OLM said that "party politics" in particular are forbidden. The article includes things about Tories, Thatcher and David Cameron, so that's the reason why I thought it was slightly political. I don't think the snipes and sarky comments are warranted when I've done nothing to be abusive to you, Will.
There isn't any and hasn't been for years. The closest thing that is popular to such things are probably the Arctic Monkeys - but their newer stuff is nowhere near as angry or rebellious as the debut stuff.
I think libraries are great, but there are none in my area. I use the library at college a lot to do studying, but I hardly get time to read my books.
