    It's called George.

Well, it was either that or James in reality.

We’re talking about Britain, its constitutional monarchy vis-à-vis a potential republic– you seriously suggesting there’s an academic comparative between this country and those three you throw?

Anyone can list bad and corrupt governments or regimes it adds nothing to this discussion.

The 'Louis' will be named after Louis ('Hello Sailor') Mountbatten.

    Sorry! - I meant Battenberg....

    Missed opportunity.

Let's just hope this Prince George isn't as thick as a whale omelette when he's older.

My prediction of Alexander George wasn't too far off.

They didn't have to name it after me though.

Under EU Regulation 67-98/34 no hamlet, village, town or city can be directly linked by name to Canute. The reason is that Canute demonstrated that whatever laws men make, natural law always win and this is means that places bearing the name are actually lawless. So Cnutsford had to change to Knutsford.

Every republic needs a head of state.

Our monarchy is mature enough to keep out of running the country= they've seen what happened to their cousins in Russia. They are more like figureheads than active heads of state who dictate policy.

The Black Rod ceremony is an important reminder of this.

Not disputing the essence of that but I was saying your comparison of Russia, Korea (North) and Zimbabwe was churlish.

Couldn't we have a new family acting as head of state randomly picked lotto style every ten years? Or are some born and bred to rule?

    We could try that.

Bit like asking a different fan to pick City's team every week, imo.
