the word croggy originates from the word cross-bar on a man's bike. "Wanna croggy?" meant "Would you care for a ride on my cross-bar?" However it had other connotations when the question was put to the girls.

My accent only gets me into trouble when I have to say "Sports Boats". I didn't find it out until I sold twenty earlier this year. The girl who does my marketing just takes the piss about it all of the time. She reckons that our accent is the direct opposite of Aussie.

Breadcake has cause me the most problems - when I lived/worked in Portsmouth I got the piss taken out if me constantly for the term Breadcake.

I even showed my colleagues a google street view of 'bread cakes galore' on Hessle Road and they still thought I was making it up.

Snap! I don't have much of a Hull accent, if any. However, when I meet new students who are from Hull, I always ask them what part of Hull are they from. Every single time without fail they look puzzled and say 'how do you know I'm from Hull' ... love it!

    Try this one below...

    'Drah whart wharn'

You're right...I saw it for the first time this April when I visited my sister in Hull. It was compiled by a few students and had a few photos of them around City Square. When my sis & brother-in-law get back from their trip, I'll get 'em to scan the booklet & I'll post on here - it was hilarious.
    In the meantime :

Naah, was originally published by Dave Whatt about 20 years ago. Him of the Hull Underground poster fame. Everything since has just been a rip-off of his work.

You may be right, although the photos in the booklet I saw looked like they were from the late 60s, but I could be wrong...
