    smug during the 80s me and my mate used to stand in the fulwell end next to a few lads from mansfield, could you of been one of these lads?

    Probably mate, we were there for almost every match in the 80's ........... we had a spot about halfway down to the right hand side, as you look at the pitch.

    There was one really handsome fella and some mutants that tagged along with him <ok>

    Great days mate, funny how you'd see the same lads in 'your spot' and everyone got on .......... not like the whinging & bickering you get these days.

    true mate, had some good laughs and drunken times. some too drunken , having to buy a paper on the way home to find out the score of the match I had just watched, lol

    There was a really canny lad from Seaburn who used to meet up with us, Dave Ashfield.

    He's just returned from years working abroad in Singapore, Australia etc.

    If Sunderland weren't playing well after 20 minutes, he'd say, "**** this I'm going back to the pub!" <laugh>
