Sickening! Its sometimes in poor taste and maybe ignorant, but have they ever done anything genuinely offensive?

Yep - I'm offended every time I hear the name and see their faces. I genuinley rage inside and want to punch a cow.

But other than that, you could look at racially abusing indigenous people and celebrating the destruction of the environment.

Yes I do get it. Completely. I'm saying that it makes money isnt important, the BBC has never in its entire history been about making money. it is a non-profit organisation.

You're right, I am being sensitive. Casual racism should always be acceptable on national tv.

"isn't it literally EXACTLY the same every single year?"

isn't that EXACTLY what a lot of people think about football?

top gear is hardly funded by the licence payer

you know how much the bbc news and its services cost?

bbc makes so much money from selling programs abroad, mainly the netherlands and usa

If the BBC didn't make money from some of their programmes, then they'd either have to make less programmes, or they'd have to up the license fee.

The fact that the BBC make a lot of money from programmes like Top Gear and Doctor Who is absolutely fine by me, they're obviously very popular internationally, or they wouldn't generate so much money and the BBC use that money to make some very good programmes.

You don't have to watch them, just add them to the list of other programmes you never watch, it seems a reasonably extensive list, adding a couple more shouldn't make much difference.

you're wasting your energy and time aiming so low. try to be sickened by the millions of much nastier things in the world instead of occasional failed humour from a millionaire from doncaster. in the scheme of things, he's nothing much. and never read the daily mail or you'll hate everyone and every thing.

£13m is a very impressive number, to put it into context, the most watched game last season was Liverpool v Chelsea and that peaked at £2.7m.

Most Premier League games on Sky hit 1m, regardless of who is playing, even BT Sports first game(Liverpool vs Stoke City), netted 764k.

Is watching & getting enjoyment from these shows any less of a waste of life or sadder than spending hours on an internet forum arguing that they are a waste of life & sad?

Some of you lot will argue about anything. A lovely lady from Hull, who is proud of that, and had some photos taken with Hudds and a couple of others to promote a TV programme and the club, won one of the most popular competitions in the country.

Why can't you either just ignore it, be pleased for her/the region or be proud?

In my office today I was asked if I was chuffed the lady from Hull won. My answer was of course I am!
