The thing with this and this likes of X-Factor - I'm guessing cos I've never seen an episode of either - but isn't it literally EXACTLY the same every single year?
Don't get all the hate myself. It's quite impressive seeing what these people can do. I'm with charlie here. No doubt all you dour ****s have never watched it - "don't have time for this ****e, ive got Love Thy Neighbour on dvd somewhere"
Sure. Well apart from there being no public vote. There's no singing or dancing. Apart from being totally different, they follow the same formula. Like any competition. The angst and anger, especially from people who have never watched it is comical. I don't like the X factor, or boxing. I'm not going to get all worked up over other people enjoying them and seeing any one from either of those things at the KC.
No hate or anger from me! just find it hard to understand peoples lives that 13 million watch a baking program?
Where does she compare there achievements? She only says anyone who is has success from the city should be celebrated.
I said anyone from Hull and having a positive impact. From the lad off of the x factor to an olympic gold medal winner. 13 million watched it last night. 13 million. Seeing someone from here winning something and while being a lovely person. Have 13 million watched you win owt? So what if its baking. All of you need to stop being so hyper critical of anything good and chill the **** out a bit.
Each to their own. An enjoyable little programme but I'm really not that bothered either way. It is what it is. Maybe we should be asking: Is the proliferation of these dumbed-down TV series a sinister effort by The Establishment to keep the proles under-educated ? In regards to the BBC, should there not be an outcry from license payers to provide better quality and educational TV ? Is it the relatively cheap cost of these programmes that is attractive to producers working on a budget ? Especially whilst the overall budget has been cut in real terms yet the BBC still employs a layer of management that command expensive salaries (along with pension commitments).
I see where you are coming from but cooking shows have been on tv for decades. Not sure this one counts as dumbing down as such. Its educational as well as entertainment. No sob stories, no public vote etc. Just baking which is very big and has been for a few years now.
My thoughts exactly. I couldnt give a **** that people watch this, I just dont udenrstand it. I'm guessing it's completely harmless and also that it's piss cheap to make as well - no celebrities, a bit of self-raising flour and some icing sugar and they're away. Now Chris Moyles and Top Gear being paid for by the license fee makes me ****ing livid.
It was educational, I learned loads from it. Bet it ain't cheap either, those mixers are like 500 quid each. So educational and expensive , happy now?
Bake off, X factor, got talent, big brother, jungle, dancing on ice, dancing, gymnastics, choirs, coach trip, come dine, four in a bed, dickinsons real deal, cash in the attic, who's doing the dishes.......... Someone's taking the piss!
You've spectacularly missed the point and proved exactly how producers can rehash the same formula and people will tune in. The producers pick a range of contestants that cover all bases (a few ethnicities, a good age range, people from across the country, someone likeable, someone for people to hate...etc), ensuring that the broad demographic is appeased. They then manipulate the footage to provide story lines (see baked alaska gate a few weeks ago). Add in a few staged dramas and leaks to the media about the contestants background/private lives. Finally mask it all with some false element of competition and your done. For what its worth I don't mind the program and even if I didn't I wouldn't criticise someone else for watching it. Just accept it that its a rehashed version of any other TV talent contest and it makes easy viewing.
Are they actually £500? When I came back to Hull the other week I stopped by my sisters house and she had one in the kitchen, why on earth would a 20 year old spend £500 on a mixer, I need to have word.
This, the amount the get from selling it on far exceeds the cost of making it and paying them their ridiculous salaries.
I'm talking morally. Unsavoury activities around the world create billions of pounds within the worldwide economy, it doesnt make it right. Everything about Top Gear and their 'comedy japes' is sickening.
Well 429. Can get cheaper clones but yeah, expensive! http://m.johnlewis.com/mt/www.johnlewis.com/kitchenaid-artisan-stand-mixer/p231560698#page_loaded
