Why we dont just close the bolt hole beats me, it needs more than a token gesture and questionnaire ffs, the government response is, as usual, weak and pathetic.
As Terry says, preventing travel restricts people's freedom ........ errr, yeah but doesn't being dead have a similar effect?
The USA are to introduce screening at airports to cut down the risk of Ebola entering the country. The process is very straight forward. They hold up a piece of white paper. If the individual doesn't match, they don't come in.
The UN should have quarantined and banned outward travel from the area from the start. We are now apparently accepting that we will have cases because it is '' inevitable'' . News yesterday says 8000 students from the area are due back in UK ! That's not even thinking it's only businessmen and tourists going to London, this is spreading 8000 people into every city/region of the country.
I ordered an Ebola protection suit yesterday. When I opened the package today I found a Klu Klux Klan outfit and a note saying 'This should keep the ****s away'.
My sister did her Anthropology degree's dissertation in May and predicted an outbreak of ebola was coming soon in Western Africa and that it would be bigger than ever before. Going to burn her as a witch.
The first death was apparently in December and it was March when the Ebola outbreak was confirmed. Had she got her predictions watching the news?
She got her grade in May mate, not sure when she handed it in. Fair play to her if she did though she got a first which is more than I managed for my dissertation. I saw nowt about Ebola until in the news until about April mind, you were well ahead of me.
Light hearted mate. It's a fantastic effort fella, well done sister Disco! To be honest, I got that information from the net, I wasn't exactly sure of when I remembered the news breaking.
Read the book called THE HOT ZONE it was written in the early nineties about EBOLA this disease has been known about for years . This is an interesting book that actually, true story, took place in the late 1980's. This story takes place all over the world, including Africa, Europe, and the U.S.A. but the main spot comes to be in Reston, Virginia, right outside of D.C. This story is ultimately about an outbreak of the Ebola virus in a monkey house in Reston. Richard Preston put together many other stories about Ebola to come to the climax of the book which is when the monkey Ebola virus broke out. Some of the stories told the gruesome tales of previous people who took in the virus and ended up dying a very disgusting and scary death. The Ebola virus has a 90% death rate and it clearly shows that and tells that in this book. It also exclaims where the virus might have came from, it could be from the European monkeys, or even Kitum Cave. The main characters of this story are Nancy Jaax, Gene Johnson, Jerry Jaax, and C.J. Peters, just to name a few. These characters were actual people, except that they had different names, so they seem very real and believable to me. I love how it seems as if you become part of the military when you read this book, mainly because the fact that the main characters are in the military and the military took the majority role in controlling the virus. I find it very interesting how many characters, Nancy especially, would risk their lives everyday because they love the danger factor. I would really like more characters from the outside world though, like some of the civilians and others around. I feel as if I was too much on the inside of the story. And of course the whole Ebola virus and Marburg virus is real and after reading this book I would really like to know more about them and see if any real threats are coming up. My overall opinions on this book would be that yes it was interesting, but it just was not enough for me. It was TOO scientific and there was too much repetition. There were plenty of times where I couldn't wait to see what would happen next and there were other times where I knew what was gonna happen next, and I felt bored with the book. I would recommend this book to anyone who is interested in the medical field or are just interested into science, period. This is more for a college student, any gender, and who loves science/biology. I gave this book 4/5 stars.
Well done Miss Disco The answer to my question is probably in this thread somewhere, but i can't see it. Just what does this disease actually do to your body, prior to death?
been here since the eighties , google the hot zone (book) been a massive cover up for years ,like a lot of other things they do not want you to know the truth ,if you are of a nervous nature dont read the facts about ebola
Hahaha you post a review for a book from someone who found this pile of ****e a good read!!! Or have you actually read the book yourself? If you have why quote someone else's review for it? I got half way through it and the repetitive ****e did my head in so I never finished it! The author totally exaggerated everything whilst patting you on the head for not knowing it in the first place. All he did was cobble together different stories from around the world then sensationalise it. Far to long and far to badly written, not just his sensationalist style but his poor writing style . You claim there has been some sort of cover up about these haemorrhagic diseases, could you point me to these cover ups? I and I'm sure others have known about these terrible diseases for many years, and our information came from media outlets, not some whistleblower. I have just checked and it isn't on any of the HD's on this computer. If anyone wants it I will rake through my backup HD's for you. A much better read may be "Spillover" by David Quammen that someone recommended to me (A person who had actually read both books.) when I mentioned how **** "The Hot Zone" was. That is on this computer, so I will start it tonight.
That reminded me of one of my favourite pictures ever... (do not ****ing spoil it diddles!) please log in to view this image
