I closed it because I felt it would end up being about religion and some politics, others via PM disagreed and said it was more about child abuse. I can see their argument, so I re-opened it.

I appreciate it's a fuzzy line, but could I ask people to comment more on the specific allegation rather than drifting into religion in general?

It's only likely to end one way, I think it was better closed.

I think the fault lies in the illogical assertion of young Craig (assume he's a youngster) about the wider catholic church.

If anyone is a nonce, regardless of faith, age, sex, nationality, creed. football club, they need disembowelling.

Joey Da Rat-- as he is known on the street, has spent most of the last twenty years trying to limit the damage caused by all the abuse that has been brought to light. His task however is like King Canute's --impossible--hence he has thrown in the towel, handed in a months notice, and is going on 'gardening' (uphill ?) leave.

The patriarchal authoritarian regime will appoint another bureaucrat to head up da mob...

The Pope looked pretty out of it the last pieces of footage I saw of him. I was more surprised they let somebody who was a member of the Hitler Youth and an active part of the Nazi regime for four years be Pope, whether he felt he had to or not, as there were plenty who died for their Christian beliefs during the Nazi regime such as Niemuller who is famous for this. People should respect others beliefs and not label them all the same whatever religion they are:

First they came for the communists,
    and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a communist.

Then they came for the socialists,
    and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a socialist.

Then they came for the trade unionists,
    and I didn't speak out because I wasn't a trade unionist.

    Then they came for me,
and there was no one left to speak for me.

A million thanks. It's been a long time since I've been called a youngster.
Regarding your point relating to an illogical assumption about the wider Catholic church, I'm not sure what you mean.
The truth is there have now been countless proven cases of ***** priests and in a close knit self-protective society like this you can bet the cases that leak out are only the tip of the iceberg.
With Ratzinger now implicated there is a valid suspicion that there is no obstacle to a pervert reaching the top rung of the ladder as well as all the levels below. So taking the known cases and the vile way their crimes were concealed by the wider church it's not too far-fetched to believe a vast *****phile ring exists and it's numbers won't be known until the church accepts an independant enquiry carried out by an external body.
You're right a nonce, is a nonce, is a nonce and the stigma of child molestation will hang over every Catholic priest until the real facts are made public.

I'm hoping to organise some old gits events for the next Olympics. I've smashed my own PB on the 'zimmer frame sprint' five times this season!!

And there was me thinking it was Rooneyphile :emoticon-0112-wonde

    Aye

Mistake to reopen this, as you can't debate (argue!)some of this without descending into politics or religion - even though neither are any more perverse than any other walk of life, least of all parenthood.

After a number of complaints I'll go back to the original plan and lock the thread.

Anything with a religious link just a non-starter on a football board.
