One of the best I have eaten at, and I've eaten at some decent curry houses around the UK.

Are we talking Newport Wales or Newport IOW? Either way I cant see any reason why I;d go there and it's a long drive for a curry.... I tend to try and tie visits in with another rason to be in a town / city.

Tandoor Mahal is really good on Andleberry rerd - it is the place i compare all other curry houses to .
Madras was very good also a few years back and went downhill - may have to give it another whirlll

The Curry spot in Cott - the one a couple of doors from the Church was very tasty - the night we last went they were very understaffed
couldnt fault the chefs work though

What makes you think that? Just cos I review them doesnt mean I know what I'm on about! And even if I was a curry expert why does that mean I should know where Newport is?!?

Those Kebabs they had at the Vine, before West Brom away, was class.

    Great little pub that.

Usually go for a Lamb Madras myself.

Think we're struggling for a genuinely decent curry house in Hull these days.

Plenty where you could get something half decent after a few pints, but most of us think kebabs are nice when in that state.

As it is, think Moonlight Tandoori on Cott Road supplies a reasonable ruby. Raj Pavilion is ok, but you're struggling to get beyond average I think.

I'm a fan of thick, rich & savoury curries myself, as opposed to balls out heat. Obviously it wants to be spicy, but I'm not interested in trying to prove the resistance of my tongue when I've got a hunger on. Some kind of chef special Balti is good for me.

Also, quarter tandoori chicken for starter. It is fantastic, and gives you red fingers.

I was once familiar with a lass whom fancied herself as a bit of a foodie. She was a bit strange and up her own arse if I'm being honest.

But she had a knack of blagging herself into restaurant kitchens. She was pretty scathing of Raj Pavillion. Said they had giant vats of curry sauce they would just dispense on order.

Zaffron she was a fan of. Said orders were all cooked fresh.

Heard some good reports of Cinnamon on Anlaby Rerd. Not been myself though.

Where's Zaffron? Never heard of it.

Sadly I think most curry houses do that, standard sauces or just 2 or 3 stocks that they use as a base.

Which is why most of them taste so similar.

A few us from work ordered a delivery from Moonlight Tandoori about six months back.

They said it would be 30 minutes.

It turned up after 90 mins. It was stone cold and they sent me a chicken korma( GTF) instead of the chicken tikka madras that I ordered.

I would rather stick pins in my eyes then go back there.

Most certainly have just the main 'soup' that they add a few bits to for the various names. You can end up paying a fair bit more money for them to add tomato soup to that base.

Kingston Road, past the Gorton road roundabout heading to Willerby.

Think it's actually spelt zaffran for the record.
