It's Czech, brewed in Prague and ice cold on a hot day is the dogs. Finding somewhere that sells it is the problem.
By educating, I meant having several of them, falling off my chair, getting the dregs of the tenth thrown in my face, and narrowly avoiding a night in a cell. This is not, I repeat not, what happened last night
i know we sell Staropromen , ive never tried it . . generally speaking (bar dutch beers) im not keen on the continental lagers .
Who's we and is it draught or bottled ? It's well worth a go mate, it's got a very distinct taste and IMO really takes some beating. Is it too early to have a beer?
I went a whole seven days without a drop but can't be expected not to have a sherbet or two in this heat. I was joking about starting at half eight in the morning though. I'm off today and tomorrow so will have my first beverage around six o clock. Got some Kronenbourg's cooling nicely in the fridge. That will be followed by a couple of glasses of Shiraz. Lovely jubbly.
Crown on Holderness Road used to sell Staropraman in the 90s heyday. Something they did to it made it taste like tomato ketchup.
Spot on. It pisses me off the way they serve it like that everywhere as if it's trendy when the reason was far less glamorous. If someone shoved a slice of lime in your pint glass you'd call them a ****.
That's nothing short of criminal. As has been posted it used to be on sale in Hayworth, that's the only place I can recall seeing on draught. I've bought the bottles numerous times( Netto's used to sell it) and they're spot on.
Update - Trading Standards called me this morning, reaffirmed the sequence of events, and told me that it sounds like knock off gear. Said they would be visiting the shop today to take away any remaining Corona in there either from the shelves or the storeroom, to check it over. Not heard anything since though. The wheels are in motion.
I own and operate a licensed store in Burton and checked my stock upon reading this. You can imagine my horror when i found that i too had some of this stock! Now i've been trading here for almost 30 years and only ever buy from legitimate and reputable wholesalers, and my stock of corona was purchased right here in Burton.I've been buying from this particular wholesaler for all of those years and trust them completely. I contacted their buying director and was assured that this product had been purchased from Molson Coors. He promised to take the matter up with them and report back. This morning i received a call to inform me that Molson Coors had indeed had a batch of Corona containing this spelling error some months ago and once it had been pointed out to them they took steps to correct it. It would seem that there is still some of this stock in the trade and it probably has a couple of months left before reaching its best before date. I asked if this could be confirmed in writing, and this evening have received an email from a National Accounts Manager at Molson Coors. I hope this helps! I[I] have had the confirmation that the spelling error on the Corona bottle was rectified a few months ago so any stock left in the market with the Burton Upton Trent label will be slightly older stock however it was true Corona liquid. We fixed the error on the label once it had been pointed out. I have no info at all to support there is any âfakeâ corona liquid in the market so you can give confidence to your customer that is the case. Hope that helps.
