You seem to like it, and dislike Hull, just out of principle. You seem to have the same attitude towards it that the out-of-towners we moan about have. I wouldn't mind, but with all the misconceptions there are about our (yes it's yours too) fine City, we don't need local people joining in with the bullshit, particularly on a public forum that everyone can read.

Hulls great to be honest, and I've spent equal amounts of time in both Hull and Beverley, Beverleys nice if you want somewhere safe to raise your kids but I find it it pretty dull to be fair and I hate the pubs here, Hull is a lot more cosmopolitan place to live

I'm just giving my two-penneth. I think Beverley is a wonderful place, others don't. Fair enough. I think Hull is a dump, others don't. Fair enough.

And Nick, how can you say Hull is cosmopolitan!?

That's what it used to be called. It was a wine bar or something in a previous life, and it seems it's now trying to attract, er, shall we say, a 'higher class' of clientele. <whistle>

Hull is a great City, it has come through a lot without any help from rubbish Councils and ignorant Governments.

It's a great place to live (I am only in France for family reasons) and I will end up back in my home town. It's those stupid people who feed rubbish to reporters that do us no favours, and then the same old crap gets circulated again.

Nothing wrong with Beverley, spent most of my boozing youth there!

They've only hoovered up in there and as for "higher clientele" they banned all squaddies going in there, yet there was still two police vans outside it when i went to past it on the way to Uppercrust. So it must have made a difference. I noticed alot of people from school were up on the banning orders list in the Dog and Duck.

Its going down the Kings Head route you mean, trying to posh itself up? I remember when those places were both hellholes full of squaddies, and that wasn't so long ago, to be fair after a few beers I never minded. Hull is just a more interesting place than Bev with a wider variety of things going on, maybe in some places it isn't that cosmopolitan but Beverley has too much of a small-town mentality

Wasn't aware the squaddies had been banned, they were a bunch of bastards. I used to avoid that place like the plague.

Meh. I think Hull's too dull and grey to be likable, apart from the KC of course <cheers>

I think 'The Grape' is indeed going for the King's Head approach, though it'll take a while for it to make a difference if you ask me!

They banned the squaddies in Cross Keys and all. But i dunno how strict they are in enforcing this.

I find a lot if people from Beverley look down their noses at Hull, I think it's because the houses are a bit more expensive and there's less crime in Beverley.

I live in Ferriby where the houses are a lot more expensive than Beverley and there is far less crime.

I might start looking down my nose at the commoners from Beverley , give the serfs a taste of their own medicine.

I'd rather live in Hull than Beverley.

    That is all.

My wife's originally from Carshalton, South London and her local team is Palace but she wouldn't swap Hull for anywhere.

I'm not a middle aged homeowner, so I certainly don't look down my nose at Hullensians because of house prices.

PS. Ferriby has nothing going for it either.
