Which of my 'insane' top 3 would you replace? Away from the Best discussion, it really is amazing that Rooney made the top 10. He's not even in their top 5 players from this season.
Hard to say who Man U's top 3 of all time would be but I reckon you would be looking at the Busby Babes era not present day show-ponies like Beckham
I'm not sure he would tbf ... remember George Best being interviewed after topping a Man United fans poll for their 'greatest player'. The interviewer said to George "You must be pleased to beat David Beckham" - George replied "Not particularly ... although for a guy who can't beat a man, tackle, head a ball or kick with his left foot ... he's doing alright" (or words to that effect) I think Beckham was a fine player ... but can't find anything to disagree with in George Best's summary ..
Top 3 personal preference Charlton Edwards Best Giggs is hovering at 4. Any order you like tho. "Bobby Charlton described him as "the only player that made me feel inferior" and said his death was "the biggest single tragedy ever to happen to Manchester United and English football". Terry Venables claimed that, had he lived, it would have been Edwards, not Bobby Moore, who lifted the World Cup trophy as England captain in 1966. Tommy Docherty stated that "there is no doubt in my mind that Duncan would have become the greatest player ever. Not just in British football, with United and England, but the best in the world. George Best was something special, as was Pelé and Maradona, but in my mind Duncan was much better in terms of all-round ability and skill.
I'm a big Rooney fan(England games apart), but I was surprised he made the top ten too. I can't actually remember who you included, but Best should have been on there regardless.
I agree with that line so much. Totally pointless statement by Waddle. It does nothing but disrespect Beckham. In reality it's such a specific figure he's given that you'd have to sit down and work it out for a bit to decide how good you actually have to be to make the top 1000.
