If you was in court on a murder charge, pleading not guilty, and hadn't in fact committed the murder, which would you prefer to listen to the evidence and pass verdict on you?
Again, if you was in court on a murder charge pleading not guilty, but had actually committed the murder, which would you prefer to listen to the evidence and pass verdict on you?
I know what my answers would be to both questions.
I'd prefer a jury because as soon as you have "employees" deciding how long before government hand down targets, quotas and "guidance" watch the Pistorius trial, that's being tried under those very conditions
There's pros and cons both ways but seeing as our unconditional tenet of Crown court trial is to be judged by our peers it's not likely to change anytime soon and having watched the barristers after Crown court chummy up to each other I wouldn't trust them any more than a banker, ie not at all
I'd just like to say it's really refreshing to see some good honest opinions on such an important subject being discussed in such a brilliant manner on here thanks to everyone taking part
