angus young @angus_young61 Construction work on delayed £11.5m Castle St footbridge will start in late 2018, @HighwaysEngland officials tell Hull scrutiny councillors. angus young @angus_young61 One reason for Castle St bridge delay was absence of any plans from the '70s on original A63 build. Believed lost. angus young @angus_young61 Contractors had to design bridge based on assumed ground conditions before proper investigations because of requirement to deliver for 2017. angus young @angus_young61 Those assumptions not helped by lack of historic records on local ground conditions. angus young @angus_young61 Lack of available nearby sites for works compounds given as another reason for delay. Already occupied by public realm contractors. angus young @angus_young61 Construction of Hull Venue also briefly referred to as a potential problem for bridge Castle St build. Surely that will still apply in 2018. angus young @angus_young61 When bridge is being built, pedestrian access to Castle St likely to be severely restricted between Mytongate and Market Place junction.
You can excuse most of those problems - it must be quite unique having 3 major projects all on the go at the same time in a small area. Loss of records from the 1970's is very embarrassing though...
Not surprising with this lot though is it. They probably went missing with all of the records that referred to the awarding of all the private comtracts that where awarded by HCC. These where awarded at one to one meetings between a sole councilor and the private company involved going back 30 years. On a side note!!! Staples struggled to keep up with demand for Brown envelopes for 3 decades now. PS. They'll still win the local election!! Remarkable
