O/T can anyone give me any pointers?

If you like steak houses I would recommend RuthChris and Del Friscos. Miss China town the resturants are crap and over priced.The USS Intrepid Sea,Air and Space Museum is really good and has an old concorde there which you must do the tour on. Definately do the Mob Tour in Little Italy. The bar at the Marriot Marquis overlooks Times Square.

Or if you just want to have a kind of mafia connection you could go to Tribeca Grill which is part owned by Robert De Niro.

 

I was in Manhattan 2 weeks ago stayed at the Affinia ( opposite Madison Square Gardens) classy place but make sure at least 10 floors up, good restaurant and bar but personally Id eat at Minettas in Greenwich village ( where Dylan net Ginsberg and next door to Cafe Wha where hendrix palyed his 1st gig and Woody Allen, velvet underground amonst many started up)
