There is actually a World Baseball Classic, in which 16 nations compete. The USA is currently 7th in the overall standings, behind South Korea, Japan, Puerto Rico, Cuba, Venezuela and the Dominican Republic.

Yes, and I bet more play Union which was the point. And why should it matter if Wiggins likes it or not? That wasnt anything to do with it.
The thing is (as I see it) that what gave Bradley Wiggins the description of 'boring' wasn't down to his personality. It was all about his racing: He's a time-triallist (the best) but he's not really a great Stage Racer. This last TdF was designed so that the time-trialists would dominate (as long as their teams shut down the other stages. This, Sky did very successfully. (Conspiracy Theory: as ASO (the Tour's organisers) seem to be as corrupt as FIFA, the F1 organisation, and the International Olympics Committee, then - is it beyond belief to think that they were swayed by Rupe's millions?)
The thing with cricket is as you say "anything can happen" but nothing ever does (only my view) I like most sports except those that take too long, dont mind cycling but Tour de France just takes too long
The point was your claim that less than a dozen countries played Rugby League. You would win your bet as Union is played in nearly a hundred countries but lose your claim that a dozen countries play Union.( which you did not dispute in responding to another poster's claim.)
You tell me where I said that? I never endorsed the claim that a dozen play Union, I simply said fewer play League.
You did not say that and I withdraw my assertion that you did and apologise. You did, however, post that less than a dozen countries play for the Rugby League World Cup and that statement is in factual deficit. Also 20 countries play for the Union World Cup not"About a dozen"( you did not say that either but did not dispute it in responding to a post that did.)
Getting back to my starter post ( I love the way these threads develop - who'd have thought it would end up being about RL vs RU!!) Anyway - having seen the GB uniforms for the opening ceremony I see where Wiggo was coming from. 'Over the top' doesn't begin to describe them. All that gold is a bit of a hostage to fortune too
