Well done for going twelve months pal. The thing with me is I don't drink to get pissed. I've got four bottles of Whisky and three bottles of Brandy in the house and I like both drinks. Very, very rarely will I touch them apart from Christmas. I'd say twice a year at most. Same goes with beer. I've got tonnes of lager in the garage from Christmas as I hardly touch it. My poison is red wine and I drink it because I like the taste. I will be cutting down and if truth be told did start to think I had a problem. Moderation is the key with me. I scored two, maybe three.
I'll admit that 95% of the time I only drink to get drunk, I see it as bit of a waste to drink more expensive stuff (basically anything but beer) when you're only having one or two - especially when my wallets hardly bursting with cash. I've smashed two teeth on a bollard and broken my arm under the influence of alcohol (separate occasions) You think I'd learn It's getting a bit more extreme every incident, next time I'll either crack my skull or die...
I used to drink a huge amount when younger but was lucky in a way that I had the capacity to do so as in I very rarely got drunk. Hardly ever do these days as I was heading down the path boothfery_legend went down but was lucky enough to spot the problem and do something about it. I do have a burnout every now and again and can still do a bottle of white rum if the mood takes me but not done anything like that for a couple of years now. Odd can at home is my limit, sometimes no alcohol will be consummed for months and happy to keep it that way.
Well done to that lad for going 12 months sober. I took the test and scored 3 yes, but if I had taken that same test 3 years ago I guess the outcome would have been different.
Carling and Fosters are just piss , I must be an alcohol snob because I wouldn't touch them If you are going to drink you might as well make it decent stuff
I'm well under the levels allowed, I'm still working through the stock I got in for New Year so I've not had much at home. I've had a few all expenses paid nights as a result of work where I appear to have spent a lot (it's a reclaim rather than account access), but I'm not sure how much of it was me and how much of it was me buying drinks for other people. Taking the test I said yes to 3, but none of them are applicable to the last 4 years (come the end of July) so I guess I'm fine.
Necroing to refill first page. Also seems a few of us have been on it tonight. Opening another red myself.
I've been supping the beers tonight, soaking it all in. Marvellous. It's steadily knocking the hangover into touch from last night.
Find myself mainly supping the wine at home. Though you can't beat a nice cold lager when the weather's warm.
Aye, I needed something crisp and cold to wake me up a bit. After all the excitement of the medals, and the aforementioned hangover, I'm starting to falter now and getting tired again. This never used to happen!
I scored 5 but, but, but.. a couple of them were "once".. I've called in sick once cos of a hangover in god knows how many years & done the "pre-party prep" thing a few times, who hasn't?
Actually glad I was sober yesterday and able to take in all the events as I don't think British sport will have another day like that again
Living just over a 30 minute drive from the Barossa Valley, I do enjoy a nice red wine every now and then. Have a Grange Hermitage in the wine rack that will stay there for a long time. Had a bottle of "Hill of Grace" that the missuss and myself knocked off on our 21st wedding anniversary.
My drinking habits seem to vary a bit in terms of how much and how often depending on a whole lot of different circumstances, but I think I definitely drink more in summer which I suspect is not that uncommon over here in Australia. Drinking beer over here is definitely more enjoyable now, that it has ever been before if you are a beer connisseuer. Hope that word doesn't sound too self important but I really do like experiencing the different kinds of beer that are available and in the last few years that situation has improved immeasurably over here. You don't get the same range of beers on tap as you will find in Britain of-course but it's a rare thing indeed to go into a pub in Melbourne and not have a reasonable selection and that is a situation that has only existed here for maybe 20 years at best. My drinking experience in England certainly confirmed (and naturally these things are to a large degree a matter of taste), that the beer - certainly Bitter - gets better the further north you travel. Someone at the KC told me in 2007 that the same is true of people! Even though I haven't come across a decent Australian brewed Bitter, there are not too many beers that are unavailable as an import - not the same as on tap of-course, but nice to be able to get the experience every now and then. One thing that has struck me quite forcibly on my recent trips to England, is that in spite of the Australian reputation (probably largely home grown) of the Aussie drinking culture, it's got nothing on Britain and on my last trip 12 months ago where I spent 10 weeks in Britain, mostly in Yorkshire, I doubt whether I went a single day without a pint or two - but maybe that says more about me and my selfless scientific pursuit of the perfect beer! Cheers everyone. Come on the Tigers!
2-3 bottles of red wine a week which normally means 2 average size glasses a night. Its good for the blood. Beer intake is as and when but due to the Olympics its been about 20 bottles last week not counting a few pints in the pubs.
