Really? The Olympics were last year, and if you're going to count that you might as well chuck in Murray's gold medal and US Open. There are millions of people around the world who play competitive tennis, and he proved himself the best of the lot on grass this summer under ridiculous pressure and expectation. How many people run the 10,000 or 5,000 metres competitively?

Not wanting to take anything away from Mo at all, fabulous athlete and all round bloke, an absolutely inspirational character who deservedly won the award last year. However this year it had to be Murray's turn, regardless of whether you like him or not (which I'm guessing you probably don't)

Sorry I didn't mean he should win because he won the Olympics. But it is hard not to take into account the double of Olympics and World Championships. For example if a footballer wins the award it would be for his/her performances over 2 calendar years as all seasons are. As for how many people run, many many more then play tennis!

And I do actually quite like Murray.

Ending a 76 year winless run. A lifetimes wait. Of course Murray deserves it and it was be ridiculous if anyone else were to win it. Like Farah and he's a nice chap but the achievements aren't really compatible. It's 1/40 on Murray for a reason - it's once in lifetime. 4/9 on the Farah top 3 finish is decent... Pop it in your accumulator.

And Farah is only the second person in history to do the 500m and 10000m double olympics and world championships, plus break a long standing 1500m british record. Froome is only the second Brit to ever win the TdF as Murray is only the Second to win Wimbledon. Can hardly say it would be ridiculous for the others to win it. After all Murray has the chance to win Wimbledon every year, and 4 chances to win a slam. I like Murray and he has done exceptionally well, I think he will win it but others would also be very deserving.

For me Farah deserves it. His achievements over the year are formidable. Murray a close second.

Put it this way - If I was Farah I'd be pissed of if Murray won it.

What is wrong with that? Why has he not "got a clue"? I'm sure he gets asked to hundreds of award evenings he can't go to all of them. At least he is dedicated to his sport, fitness and the Oz open in the new year.
