But as I said, that's just someone like you and I giving an opinion on a website. The writer is no more qualified to talk about this than we are.

People do give sports journos far too much credit. I'd told some stories on here previously about my direct experiences with them, some of the things really do beggar belief.

Didn't Liverpool have a better points tally without Suarez in their team? I know he only actually contributed about 9 points last season. It be interesting to compare that with bale/messi/ronaldo and none of those guys are strikers!

Maybe I view them differently but I'd say Messi and Ronaldo are the epitome of the modern second striker. Yes they're nothing like your Ian Rush / Gary Lineker, Jimmy Greaves / Paolo Rossi type but the game has changed a lot.

So is Suarez a striker? Or a second striker?

It doesnt matter, both positions are strikers, but Id suggest he's played both roles for Liverpool. He was 2nd striker when playing with Carroll and he's also lead the line.

Ronaldo is most definitely a winger when you watch him play, he does not play in the hole he plays on the touchline then cuts in to shoot/head etc.

Again, all about opinions but I'd say he's a striker who pulls wide to pick up the ball.

    Ronaldo is certainly a winger.

Real Madrid always played Benzema or Higuain as the main striker.

I didnt dispute that. I clearly said he was the epitome of the modern second striker.

So just to confirm.... Suarez is alright, possibly worth £30m, bent is a good buy at £5m especially for a club like us. Ronaldo is a winger, no, a support striker, no, a striker and he's world class! I think that's it settled!

Unfortunately the word World Class gets banded around far to much, i would save that word for the player who is in the top 3 in his position in the world and seen as i rate Ibrahimovic, Cavani, Falcao, Messi and Ronaldo above him personally i would not call him world class. A very good player but i think there are better out there, so he can't be world class by definition.

Also those who say Ronaldo isn't a striker, please watch Spanish footballer, he doesn't come in his own half, he is quite often the man playing on the last defender with Benzema the one dropping deep if needed. Mourinho even side in the press last year Ronaldo is the best striker in the world, surely that settles that arguement?

By 'your' definition only. Most ex professionals refer to Suarez as 'World Class'. I think his goal ratio and number of assists automatically make him World Class, particularly as he has had to do it playing alongside ****e like Jonjo Shelvey.

He's being ruled out of being world class by some, because you can only have three players in each position?

Either you're one of the best players in the world, or you're not. It's obviously all about opinions, but to say someone isn't world class, just because you can think of three players you rate more highly, seems rather random to me.

I'm happy for him to be ruled out on the basis that he's a goofy obnoxious ****, but I'm not so sure he can be ruled out on football grounds.

Ruth was a Babe, but not in the same league as Viv ! I think she got over a thousand offers of marriage at the time. Bit like Diana Dors if I recall.

Shelvey cost Swansea £6m. I'd rather have bent please.

And just to confirm bent is not ****. If he did sign for us which I don't think he will, he would be by far the best player to play for us.

My point wasn't is bent better than Suarez, it was surely there is not £25m between them?

And my other point is Suarez is good... Just not world class. It's like I loved Ian ashbee for years. And as much as I talked him up, and I said he was world class, was he?

    Yeah he probably was!
