With regards to a nuclear assault, not a chance. The minute Russia even reached for one the yanks would absolutely level the entire country. The US military reserve weapon cache that their tactical strike units have at their disposal would be enough to take on a 'rest of the world' military. Russia, China, it's all majorly exaggerated they simply couldn't compete unless the 'war' went to ground.

Russian soldiers would never pull the trigger on a nuclear assault either not for Putin or anybody, unless they were retaliating against a nuclear assault on themselves, they're not that stupid.

This flight blowing up, it looks like pre-meditated terrorist activity in an area that they were guaranteed to succeed given the lack of any kind of authoritative security in the area.

This will blow over because the target was not of a significant interest to the victim airline's nation. Had it been a Chinese/Russian/US plane I'd expect a bit of a fallout but not the Malays.

    1. Amazing that a plane in 2014 just 'vanished'.
    2. Amazing that a plane from the same airline was shot down.

That part of the world is warped as ****, I'd be happy for them to carry on fighting with each other, bunch of idiots, like bears with no brains, just brute dumb ****s.

Putin likes to poke the bear, like somebody mentioned earlier, if Dubya was still boss Putin would be worm food by now.

Tip of the iceberg no doubt.

I try my damnedest not to immerse myself into too much bad news on a daily basis, I live my life relatively worry free and as a result I'm unable to join in with certain debates that I'm not really clued up on. It's a small price to pay for me, if I absorbed all the bad goings on I think I'd probably be a very miserable person.

Yep good plan mate <ok> I'll avoid the 'mainstream news media' (and most TV) and generally 'the news' whenever I can, if I really want to find out about something that's relevant to me- then I'll use as many sites and get diverse opinions and commentary to make my own mind up.

Maybe so Terry, but Dubya was a dumbass and got things wrong a little too often for my taste. Cheney led his brain trust, and in honesty, Cheney is a sick ****.

The problem of course, is that Obama is perceived to be as weak as a limp dick, and he probably is. Putin can, and will, **** with him, and Obama probably won't do ****.

The world is a ****ing mess.

Poor bastards getting hit by a missile, I mean FFS just tucking into a bland tub of toad in the hole and your plane gets ripped in half. Even contemplating the fear the victims endured gives me shivers.

Blame and politics aside, ****ing awful way to die I can't think of much worse personally.

It's how it's perceived mate, I'd much rather people thought I was a nice guy if I was running the most powerful nation on earth, Obama wouldn't hesitate for a second to protect his country from any potential threat, Dubya just liked the power and liked the world to know who the daddy was.

I work in travel mate and we've already had an update around, there is absolutely no reason why it should affect Amsterdam or KL, flights are not being cancelled, they are being re-routed, in the same way they would be for adverse weather.

You could see a slight increase in ticket costs on the routes for extra fuel surcharges etc, but it's not gonna be a 911 effect or anything like that.

The big issue will be for Air Malaysia, who will struggle to stay in business after 2 hammer blows, but it shouldn't realistically damage the industry overall.
