So long as oil is traded in American dollars the Americans will be able to control the world. Every time a leader has attempted to trade oil by using/inventing a new currency such as Gaddafi and Hussein, they and their nations are 'dealt with'. On top of this, nobody in the United States or The UK (amongst many other countries) actually legally owns their gold. If the country is in crisis it can call in what is essentially a gold reserve, by stripping the country of it's gold, rings, necklaces... the lot, this includes shops and it's a method to avoid people having to trade their possessions to survive. President Roosevelt called in the entire US public gold reserve in 1933 (I don't know how successful this ended up being) and it's perfectly plausible that the Americans and the UK could do this again. If that's the case I'd hate to be Kanye West walking around with no teeth in but **** him, if it means avoiding global meltdown so be it. The Chinese have no reason to anger the United States or attempt to out grow them in any way, if they successfully suppressed America, China would fall in a matter of years as The US is their biggest customer. The US would be unable to loan money to other countries in the EU and these countries would become poor and eventually start to manufacture at similar cost levels to China. You'd then be left with a country with a population of 1.3Bn people with a broken economy, it would be the biggest self inflicted genocide, biocide whatever you wanna call it, all of the other countries would be too skint to help them out.
