they used to toss a coin in europe. let's go back to that and save the bother of penalties which do at least use a bit of football skill and add a bit of excitement.
Are you sure? In domestic, knock-out, limited overs cricket it's sudden death, each time faces one over, the team that scores the most off their over wins. Is what you've mentioned an IPL thing (I don't watch the IPL at all) or have you just made it up?
I think it's the other way round - Twenty20 cricket has led to the 'super-over' before that in domestic competitions (not sure about the world cup) it used to be a 'bowl-off' where bowlers had to bowl at the stumps penalty shoot out style with 5 bowlers going first then sudden death
It's how I remember Cricket doing it also but I've not really watched it in 20 years. Most likely what you are familiar with is the newer method.
I definately remember it being on SSN a while ago, i think it was at county level but maybe it's been scrapped. Like i said i made no effort to research any of what i said but i know i've seen/heard of it before.
No worries, it's just I've never seen that before. For what it's worth I think it sounds like a great idea, although a bowler missing the stumps would be similar to a striker missing a penalty, shouldn't happen but it will under pressure.
hopefully fifa will just decide to change it. The best thing they ever did was to ban the back pass in 1992.
I agree with that, it revolutionised football. Funny thing is you talk to kids today and they have no idea that back passes were allowed and how the football suffered because of it.
Indeed. Simple. Game carries on until someone scores the winner in a first goal wins extra time after the 90 mins. Myself i dont mind penalties. Maybe Septic Bladder has had complaints from the Germans about penalties deciding games ?
Maybe they could just switch to a shoot out, give the players an AK47 each and the winner's the one left standing. We could trial it at a Leeds v Leicester game.
god I remember watching city and they had Steve Wilson in goal and all Lee Warren or David Mail did was pass the ball back to him. Then the players crowded around the centre circle and he kicked it and within seconds the ball was passed back again. It was woefull to watch. You wonder if the defenders of years ago could cope now. What with no back passing and less strident offsides. I'm thinking of people like Alan Hanson.
Seep Blatter is trying to bring in a new rule, all internationals will be won by the highest amount paid into his Swiss bank account.
A penalty shoot out has always been satisfasctory until now. If Bayern had beaten Chelsea would Blatter and Franz have said it was an unsatisfactory way to win. Its amazing this only comes up when an English team wins. It just confirms to me that Blatter and company are anti English.
We created football and all the other 'big I am' bellends try to f**k it up. Fist team to stab Blatter and Platini would be a good way to win! As a serious idea if it had to change, I'd say a 2 Vs 2 match. The 2 goalkeepers in goal at each end, with 2 outfield players starting beside the goal of their opposition keeper. The ball is placed in the centre circle, the ref blows his whistle and the outfield players have to run from the side of the goal to the ball, first to it has the obvious advantage. First to score wins.
