Hopefully this will pave way for the government to get their act together since its the scheme they set up. More money to sort out the roads, extending the M62 all the way to Hull and electrifying the train route between Selby and Hull. Maybe Humberside Airport may get some new investment so they can attract flights to Hull for the events in 2017
Nice to see a lot of support from Scandinavia in The Guardian, one suggesting that The Humber Bridge was built the wrong way and should go to Norway! Also, Hull is featured on all the news channels tonight BBC, ITV and Channel 4
You will have to do better than this Mr Hat the boarded up houses of Ringrose St and Woodcock St, shown in your pictures have been knocked down and replaced by new houses ages ago. As for the guy in the picture he's still around somewhere but are you suggesting that Hull is the only city with such inhabitants. Oh and the pics (sorry they are small thought I had some of my own) courtesy of HDM.
Sore losers Swansea have really shown us up for the frauds we are with this well researched article. Eleven reasons Swansea is better than Hull. http://www.walesonline.co.uk/news/11-reasons-swansea-better-hull-6321753 Just a couple of highlights. We'll admit, Hull does have some nice beaches, but it doesn't beat some of the stunning views offered by the Swansea Bay coastline. ok you got us beat on the beaches. Ours are a disgrace. Michu has good reason to look really happy here - not only is Swansea City currently above Hull City in the Premier League... I'll stop you there shall l. Whilst you carry out the single piece of research required to back up this point. Namely look at the league table. I suggest this piece was written by a women, or a metrosexual.
Some people don't get what 'culture' means... What does having a university close to a beach have to do with it? The award was for 'which is the most cultural'. Not 'which is the best looking'.
Dare I say it but could we please have a decent reference area, statue or some recognition for Mick Ronson, Woody Wodmansay and Trevor Boulder, ok tell me Woody was born in Driffield, true but something substantial, maybe even like the Larkin statue, in place before 2017?
A Spiders from Mars (Bowie could be there as well I suppose) group statue would be class. Where would you put it though?
How about where the big TV screen use to be? Or would the Queen not be amused (the one sat on top of the toilets I mean)
... bit tangential, but nevertheless true (and unfortunately evidences my age) my auntie (who celebrated her 50th wedding anniversary - my late mother's brother - in April) dated Jim Bowen before she met my uncle ... "you get nothing for 2 in a bed" ...
Someone I work with said; 'Giving Hull, City of Culture is like giving a blind man a pair of binoculars' ......Profound or what! I laughed.
... I think she made the right choice with my uncle and even in her seventies she looks better than that pic
She did one hell of a job, Jim Bowen's still dated. Sorry Jim...I don't actually mind him. I know of a few people that's met him and they say he's a really genuine bloke.
http://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/Hull...benefit-Mail/story-20104568-detail/story.html Many unemployed people, both young and old, should see a chance to get work; to rebuild their self-confidence and to once more be masters of their own destiny. The tourism and hospitality sector; the supply chains to new companies suddenly wanting to align themselves with a buoyant and confident city will create work that fits our area. We have the people." While I'm happy to have won. How will it equate into real jobs. Artists in all fields are coming here and performing! And? It creates a vibe and? Will these artists be performing on Greatfield, North Bransholme, Longhill, OPE? Or on the Avenues, Fruit in the centre of town?
