Hi Stan I missed the last few minutes of the insincere Humphrys 'it's all about me' show. I was dreading that the editor might drag on John Prescott to play the 'let's take the piss out of his accent and speech' game that he enjoys with Prezza. I once emailed him after one such event and reminded him that he was from/born in Wales just like Humphrys himself. His reply? 'Blimey, oops I didn't actually realise that!' Mmm piss poor for a journalist. To be honest, don your flak jackets and hats and get ready for the jokes, the usual cliches etc etc. I had a couple as I arrived at work in Lincoln this morning. One ****wit was from Leicester ... I ask you, do they ever feckin learn? Though to be fair my Leicester based colleagues have been very generous and said well done Hull.
City of 'culture' - it's incredulous that Hull could win a culture competition over hugely multi cultural Leicester. The only culture Hull has is a frightening trait to moan and whinge about everything more than a woman could dream of an grown men piss their pants and trow playground tantrums on Internet message boards. But then, the fact Leiecster even bidded in the first place was preposterous, the competition is exclusive to grotty northern hovels in serious need of regeneration as these results prove yet again.
Magnanimous in victory Mr Hat ... would have used 'incredible' rather than 'incredulous' myself in the structure of the sentence ... but that might just be a cultural difference ... again, very well done to Hull.
Gracious in defeat as ever Fosse. I guess practice makes perfect. I've got to be honest, I don't really have a clue what any of it means in reality.
I think it will be good for the City's profile as a visitor attraction ... seems to give opportunities for events that might otherwise be held in London ... like the Turner prize etc ...
Since Derry was awarded it in 2009, they've pulled in £120 Million in investment and they forecasting 'Ull will bring in £160 Million. TWT
I always knew you were a bit posh. I see the official City page congratulates us on winning 'Capital Of Culture', it seems City is now a swear word.
One curmudgeonly old bugger won't have anything to do with what happens in 2017. Will the KC even be made available for events?
Will Hull Cathedral be holding many events showcasing Hulls marvellous depth and diversity of cultures?
So what would he have said if they had won it?: "We clearly desperately needed it and Hull are obviously making their way successfully on their own"? Of course he ****ing wouldnt. If he suspects this to be the case why did they ever bid in the first place?
