I think the only reason Luiz is played in defence is because his frizzy hair makes him look taller than he is. He should play as a defensive mid-fielder, as I am sure that is his best position, and he certainly is not worth £40M.
He was on the receiving end of some very favourable refereeing decisions in all the matches he played in the World Cup, he should have been sent off a couple of times. Wonder what PSG fans are thinking now?
£40 million is a lot, but that's the PSG price which will be significantly higher than the market value because people know they have the money and are willing to spend it. David Luiz is a fantastic player, he just needs someone to coach some discipline into him. His talent and technical ability are often overlooked due to the mistakes that arise from indiscipline. Anyone doubting he's brilliant footballer just re watch his free kick against Columbia there's not many players in the world that can hit a ball like that.
Same with most free kick takers then (maybe not Yaya Toure). £40 or £50 million its money found down the back of the sofa for PSG.

I'd never call David Luiz a "great footballer". Bang average is what i'd call him. Him being able to strike a dead ball (and get it right once and a while), doesn't make up for the fact he's a liability, and that he neglects his defensive duties. Just because you have money doesn't mean you have to splash it on average players like that. I'd have thought you'd have wanted something special for that much.
£40m is a fair price for David Luiz, no doubting he's one of the best defensive minded players about and can play in all sorts of positions. I think he'll do very well in France.
He can pass like Thudd, hit a mean free kick and drive forward aggressively. The first two at least are more than "bang average" skills. On the down side, his positional sense is woeful, his tackling haphazard and his desire to help his team out is missing. Perhaps PSG think Silva will help him defensively?
He seemed to try a few different positions out last night and he was ****e. He's also a dirty ****er who ordinarily would have had 2 reds and a yellow last night so for me, no, Id assess him as a petulant liability and not worth 40m of anyones money. Mourhino musta been pissing himself laughing at last nights display.
