That was a myth that, a myth that excused him leaving his mark when it suited......

    Scholes could tackle alright.

I think some people think they are 2 entirely different positions/roles.

No idea why. So many **** ****ing phrases that refer to the same positions in football.

Trequista, number 10, CAM, advanced playmaker, in the hole. All the same.

Are you saying by association that Rooney = Zidane @10? Nice one, Toblerone.

    Zidane marshalled the whole midfield.

  6. This is one of the most ridiculous and pointless arguments I think I've seen on these boards <laugh>

A number ten is essential a position in a team that can vary. Can back to the eighties and even the nineties, a number ten played upfront alongside a striker but was more of a target man and/or creator. Someone like Sheringham, Cantona or Zola etc. Nowadays it is a attacking/creative midfielder that can play just behind a striker. Someone like Scholes, Gerrard or Lampard etc. In fairness, there isn't a great deal of difference between the two roles bar a few yards. As I said, pointless <laugh>

in 442 days it was the other striker.

in the one striker system its the player behind.

In 10 years time it's be the keeper <ok>

I'm saying that you're talking out of your hairy hoop lad.

Zidane was an attacking midfield player who played in what you're looking to pigeon hole as a 'No.10' role. He was a playmaker

It's not pointless at all. It is as significant as the difference between Rooney and Zidane, who for some are both number 10s.

    Is right.

Saying that Zidane wasn't or couldn't be a No.10 is one of the most stupid arguments I've seen made

There are number 10's playing in the football league just as there are number 10s playing in the Champions League. Are they equal? no. Are they performing the same role? Yes.

Do all number 10s play exactly the same? Nope.

Do all strikers play exactly the same? Nope

    Are you mistaken regularly? Yes.

  19. Sheringham was a number ten too yet he could have easily played inbetween the two you mentioned in the same side <doh>

Just in case you don't realise, players aren't cemented into one position their entire career and not all positions are entirely different specifications either <doh>
