Match Day Thread NUFC vs Arsenal

It's a new season and we have spent some money (albeit not much net)... People are hopeful.

Arsenal seem to have had a pretty good pre-season and ours has been ok, minus a stuffing from a Wolves team who were way ahead in their preparations due to their Uefa cup campaign, so I think both are in a good place to give a decent performance.

While I have no doubts they will score, the question for Arsenal, as always, is defence. Not sure Luiz is a clever signing at all. He's quite clearly a disruptive influence, error-prone, lacks pace and height, and I have to say in this new VAR period is a red/pen waiting to happen the amount he fouls. Hopefully he plays, Joelinton would have a field day in terms of link-up and stretching the defence.

Can we expose them and can Joelinton be clinical enough to punish their mistakes? His career record probably says no, and Almiron and Saint-Maximin are not exactly prolific either. That makes me think it will be a tight game, with the quality of Aubameyang and Lacazette being the difference.

Its a game of football ... Arsenal are without doubt a better team, so they are favourites to win. Its not impossible newcastle get something , but it is unlikley and thats why i dont understand why so many are predicting we will win let alone draw. Only 2 of the new players will start and we dont have two top scorers from last season, do I dont think weve turned into brazil .. im going 2-2 in hope more than using common sense.

I dont see my point as negative ... i think its accurate in terms of what should happen, but its football we could get something against the odds.

This isnt the Prediction League - we are saying what we would like to happen. It helps us enjoy the weekend in a more positive frame of mind. You should try it sometime.
