Seen growing rumours over the last few days that we are trying to sign FC Utrecht striker Sebastien Haller. More of a target man than what we have excluding Mitro. Good goalscoring record for FC Utrecht last season, and the start of this one.

The Chronicle have now picked it up and are reporting the link. Could be an interesting one if there is any truth in it.

I'll hold my hands up up I haven't a clue if this is a good signing or not. He's french and that isn't a good start <laugh>

I'm not impressed with his record really. He has done alright in the dutch league but Luuk de Jong has been tearing defences to pieces the last two seasons. A look at his time with Auxerre in Ligue 2 doesn't look too promising - granted he has young. Siem de Jong looked amazing. Depay scored 22 goals from the wing.

    **** knows.

Saw a youtube video and read an account from a dutch fan. Seriously havent seen someone head a ball like he does since Les or shearer. Haller appears to have this ability to get massive amounts of power on his headers even from floated crosses. He isnt bad with his feet too.

Goal record, last 50 games he has banged in 30 and assisted 9, so involved in 39 goals out of 50 which is a great record for a young striker bearing in mind he would have been 20/21/22 over those games.

The piece i read from a fan said how Haller has a great attitude, ambitious works hard and will do anything for the team. Tracks back and wins the ball, great penalty taker and has the ability to make it to the top.

I think this guys interesting, but we have competition from Everton, Stoke, Sporting Lisbon, Villa, Wolves and Monaco, so Rafa would have to work his magic!

Thinking about Wingers and saw that Adama Traore wants out of Villa, the once Barca youngster has pace to burn and technically very very good, strikes a ball like roberto carlos, but as with most players of this ability, he is quite egotiscal and has had some injury problems. Would be a massive gamble, but if Rafa can manage him and get the best out of him he could turn into a 30M+ player easily!

If he's being signed so we have two target striker options and if the Chronicle's belief that we are also after another more experienced and proven striker is accurate, then I think it'd be very positive. Add in a quality left winger and Galloway and we'll look good on paper. Just need to convert that to consistent, strong performances.

I'd rather have a creative midfielder centrally and a winger who is a box of tricks. We have direct wingers now. Youth and experience, we need a maverick trickster who beats a man with ease.

Centrally we massively need a creator, or 2nd striker if we don't trust arma. Perez is not the answer. We need a Gavin Peacock/Beardsley. There will be an experienced one somewhere.

Think he's also scored 7 for French U.21's in only 9 outings. Powerful in the air and considering we are now putting in quite a few crosses he could be a good asset.
