It's this point really which stands out for me: It sounds like he's talking more about Tiote requesting a better wage or he'll be off, as opposed to Llambias kicking him out even though he wants to stay. This gives me a little bit of comfort, but who knows. Tiote really does seem to like it here, he signed that bumper contract and he doesn't strike me as a money-oriented type player...
Hmmm duno about this mate, to say anyone these days doesnt seem a money orientated player is 99% of the time incorrect, just the nature of the beast. Plus with him playing in Holland/Belgium previously its not like he was earning mega bucks then and this is a player in the prime of his career, in the spotlight with ur excellent season, big clubs are defo interested. Uz have secured a big financial payout by arranging an improved contract ad-hoc so its not like uz r guna get ripped off, however even if he does tow the very popular "im moving for a better chance at trophies" etc IF he does go, the power of the almighty £ always tends to be the primary motivator.
More news............maybe old news...but.. Alan Pardew hopes the FA can see sense and withdraw their allegations that Newcastle and Sunderland failed to control their players in the Tyne-Wear derby. Alan Pardew: "Mike Ashley thoroughly enjoyed Sunday - he thought it was 'good theatre', those were his words, and it probably was. "But for us as a club, it's important he has a good hold of the football club and a good psychology towards it, which I think he has at the moment. "We are just going to try to grow with the financial discipline that we have. "If they [Sunderland] had beaten us at home, it would have been difficult to say we had had a great season. "But we managed to come back in outstanding fashion, and now we can just go on in the last 11 games and play with a smile on our faces, hopefully. "It's a combustible game. It was a tackle that there was always going to be a reaction to, and players mainly just ran over to try to keep everybody away. "I don't think there was anything too threatening going on, but it probably didn't look too good on the TV screens . "Hopefully, we can defend ourselves and Sunderland can defend themselves and we can all move on."
Maybe he is just preparing the fans for the worst. He is not trying to reason with the likes yourself, but the idiots who jump off the deepend everytime someone leaves. Far be it from me to start defending these two ****s, but the reality is if big offer comes in for the guy and either Cheik wants to go or his agent gets in his ear, there is little the club can do. Every club outside those recognised top clubs (Man C, Man U, Spurs, Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal) are slaves to the transfer system. Even the Man U and Arsenal type club have to sell when the money gets silly. I'd hate to lose Tiote but you have to be realistic. The thing that might buck against it is all his teammates having committed themselves to the club in recent times. A Europa League spot might interest him too but if someone is offering CL, what can you do? Same applies to Sessengnon, its not like these guys are not known to the big clubs. They analyse all the teams below them and cherrypick, have done for years.
The thing is, though, that no one is talking about it except him. Tiote's happy here. Nobody has been sniffing around. It's the club who bring up the topic of selling him, and basically say he's available.
I even think you've overstated that, for me only City and maybe Chelsea are immune to richer clubs, which at this stage are Barca and Real, with the likes of PSG and Anzhi quickly sneaking up behind. United could do nothing about Ronaldo going, just as Arsenal couldn't for Fabregas, Nasri and Clichy. I posted a big long rant ages ago when someone suggested that we were 'a selling club' after Carroll went, while I believe that anyone outside those 5 or 6 teams is a selling club at the right price these days, and we're actually better placed than most to cope with that. We don't need to sell players on the cheap, and unless a player actively forces a move through the press etc we can guarantee a good return on those that want to go. Whoop!
This thread shouldn't be called " NUFC fans smash up their own ground". It's not theirs, It's Mr Ashleys.
Fredd you talk a lot of sense mate it is like a breath of fresh air having a reasonable and balanced mag on this board, thank you
