Rogers' pre-match interview just broadcast here. He was a parody of himself. He's going "technical". He's playing his reserve goalkeeper. He's got his two fit recognized strikers - Lambert and Ballocks - on the bench. He's starting to go on a wing and a prayer.

Van der Gaal ... if you want to know what I'm doing in this game watch what happens on the pitch. Coy, cunning and clever! Makes Rogers sound like a rookie. Rogers' is on a hiding to nothing here.

No shape to 'Pool - plenty of enthusiasm but no cohesion, focus or shape. Three players closed down Valencia for the first goal, and Valencia ended up nutmegging Joe and running into oceans of space. WTF did the three think they were doing.

And yet another colossal **** up by the officials on the second goal.

Anyone who has got 5 minutes and fancies a laugh might enjoy this old thread from the Liverpool board;
http://www.not606.com/showthread.php/173175-Shelvey-gets-first-England-call-up

The context;
- Rodgers' 1st season at Liverpool (October)
- Shelvey a substitute for them who has just got a couple of starts in the Europa League and scored a couple of goals gets his first England call up

Interesting at what some of us and the scousers thought about him then and how it compares to what we feel about Shelvey now that he has switched.

To quote Organic Red from TB's thread reference ....
Yeah,good news and worthy recognition for the progress Shelvey's made in a short time.
The injury risk is one concern,he's becoming an important member of the squad.
One poster on here recently described him as a 'headless chicken' in some aspects of his
game and I think that was accurate.

He's got plenty of time to iron out those rough edges and become the real deal.

We're still waiting for those rough edges to get ironed out.

Now .... you're not commenting on Monk are you ... tut, tut! <laugh>

Those edges have burrs and need much more than an iron.

It's worrying that he imo not shown any improvement in attitude ,commitment or ability since his arrival , yes as we all know he's still young blah blah blah but it's a young mans' sport and he's played in the PL a lot longer than some of if not most of his team mates and they seemed to have grasped the chance to shine .

If the iron doesn't work than get the angle grinder out

Question then becomes - since according to Rogers he would now be in his asset years - do we want a project or a player that fits. Are we going to persist with trying to bang this square peg into our round hole. I think it's beginning to hurt - at least it's becoming obvious that to many that it hurts. He could be a great player for some club, but unless something shifts that club is not going to be us.
