Echo the sentiments of others. It's not until you leave with certain memories and then return that the difference becomes so striking.

This is what decades of successive inept councillors and a Cardiff centric Welsh Assembly governed by a "where is Swansea anyway" London based government has done.

Agree, those artists impressions look superb. But,I have lived in Swansea all my life and seen so many of these artists impressions that do not, unfortunately, come to fruit.
We are graced in Swansea with fabulous and beautiful countryside and beaches. Now we turn the coin to hub,the city centre. Not wanting to go on about it so IMO "Not good enough"

Just a thought that may provoke, maybe the people of Swansea need to be educated more on how to not drop litter, cig ends, dog s**te,chewing gum, boarded up shops.Oh God here I go again.
    Apologies.

The problem as stated with the city centre is lack of investment. The difference between us and the Cardiff region is that the Welsh Assembly and the National Government invest millions in Cardiff whereas our council have to raise their own investment. This is why they are now looking to sell off municipal buildings and land to raise capital. A typical example is that a local cinema graphic company won a world award for their work yet the Welsh Assembly chose to invest £15 million in a new Centre in Cardiff. This sort of thing has been going on for years and we can all see the result.

If you open your eyes there has been so much investment done in Swansea over the last decade and more. The council dont have a bottomless pit that they can spend spend spend...

Agree! Shame that so much poor policy by successive Labour councils have stagnated inward development, I see that currently this is still an issue that is blocking developers from London spending 'Billions' on regeneration projects for the City? As for Litter and dog fowling, Swansea council have always been poor at managing this, and they do nothing for the dog fowling on our Gower beaches either, which really gets my back up................<ok>

There has been investment in Swansea but nowhere near the scale that Cardiff has received. I don't agree that lack of inward investment is totally the fault of the council but needs to be blamed on the Cardiff bias of the Welsh Assembly.

The Cardiff bias is real and has contributed to the issues of Swansea development, but we could do a lot more ourselves, but that is well and truly scuppered now with all these Tory cutbacks, I see they are selling the County hall? what a waste of money that has turned out to be, just another example of poor prioritising from Swansea city council, what wastage, better that they had spent the money on upgrading the Civic Centre......................<ok>

People of Swansea are much to blame. Keep voting in the same dreadful Labour Councillors/MP's and what do you expect. When they f*** the city up so badly and still get voted in where's the incentive to to better - that's why they're all on a jolly. If they ever wanted to shoot a film about the aftermath of a nuclear holocaust Swansea is ready made.

The council is like a football club, If you spend more than the money you get coming in then you are asking for trouble. It's so easy to blame the labour council when they inherited a hell of a shambles left by the Lib dems on top of tory massive cutbacks. the council today are doing a remarkable job with very little money to play with....

Good example. Our council is run like our football club was pre 2000's. Look what a change can do. Unfortunately, like with the Swans, we'll have to wait until the city is destroyed for anything to happen.

A week ago these designs won an international award and beat off competition from London, Hong Kong and Canada. YESTERDAY the Energy Minister have his backing to this development and the five other lagoons the company wants to build, when all six lagoons are completed the government subsidy will be about £95 per MW/h, cheaper than all non-fossil fuel alternatives. Those subsidies will only last for 35 years, beating the others hands down who require them for their entire duration!

Together they will contribute a whopping 10% of the UKs energy needs for 2020! And don't forget this is predicable energy production based on tides we can forecast for the full 120 year lifespan of the project.

Swansea Council may not have much money, but the money that has been spent has been totally wasted. It's criminal what they've done to the road system, allowing social housing in the city center and other nonsense schemes. They need a decent master plan and then get private business involved. A vibrant city center needs people, so it should have office buildings, university building and decent homes. Most vibrant city centers have all of these. With most things being out of town, all the city center has is drunk people in Wind Street and homeless people in High Street.

But whenever something good is suggested, most Swansea people are so backward thinking that they just don't want it.

Swansea could have had the new Swansea University campus, but the council made things so difficult that it end up in Neath Port Talbot. It should have been built close to the city center. The council have no idea at all. But the people of Swansea still vote for the same idiots.

Try and understand the politics plastic. nobody have wasted anything its a fact that there are more miles of road than there is money that can be spent on it. The same as every other departments in the council they have had to bare over the top cut in the money they are allocated, So therefore all the projects that have been planned some will have to be scrapped.....if you want to blame anyone then blame the central government..
Where the waste is going is that shambles in cardiff that is nothing more than a talking shop and 300 MP's that is not needed in London. The USA is a far bigger country to run but have far less equivalent mp's to do the job....
