Now we know our squad

23 isn't enough for the Premier League let alone Championship. They're limited to 25 players and teams always fill them and are forced to send seniors on loan due to the limited slots. We're talking seniors here. They fill their squads with seniors cause u23 don't have to be registered. Think you're in for a shock fella.

Just the 7 games in 3 weeks this month.

Lets just hope for all of our sanity im right. I know im alone in saying well do well<laugh>, but i honestly think well do the biz this season with the players mentioned above.

I think it's all about expectations. If I look though that squad with a even a hint of promotion expectations it's so short it's not worth discussing. But when looking with expectations of an extended championship stay its not so bad but it's not so good either, alsorans is a God awful league. I guess that's just where we are until you know who ****s you know where

Simon Grayson has been left delighted with Sunderland’s transfer dealings over the summer window.

The Black Cats boss engineered a mass overhaul on Wearside, working tirelessly up until the final second of the window to recruit 10 new faces.

With deadline day signings Marc Wilson, Jonny Williams and Callum McManaman rounding off the lads’ summer spree, Grayson has shared his pleasure with safc.com following a hectic summer of activity

“Marc Wilson (is a) centre-half (and) he plays for the Republic of Ireland, we are delighted to beat competition from Premier League clubs to get him,” he said.

“His experience will be vital and he can play as a holding midfield player as well so we are delighted that he has turned down those opportunities to come here.

“He is looking to play regular first-team football which he will get here and he knows quite a lot of the lads so it will make an easily transition for settling in.

“Jonny Williams is an attacking midfield player and part of the Welsh squad,” he continued.

“He played in the Euros (last year) and comes on loan from Crystal Palace. He has great commitment and when we agreed the deal he drove eight hours from Cardiff to get here.

“He showed his commitment, he is a tidy footballer and he is the kind of player who will get on the ball and make things happen.

“We also did Callum McManaman from West Brom. He is a quick winger who likes to run at people, take you up the pitch and all these players are looking to strengthen the squad and help contribute to a successful season.

“We are delighted to have all three and I think it rounds off which has probably been a good window for us.”

Wearside by side

Why? Think most people understand we're early in a rebuild. The club is in an awful state. I think most people understand it takes time.

The last thing which will be testing my sanity is Sunderland this season. I'm at peace that it's going to be hit and miss season. We're laying the first blocks in a long recovery. You'll get no angry projection with me other than to idiots who take to twitter and show their lack of reason to our plight. They'll make our situation worse, they always do. Cause they want it all and they want it now and when they don't get it they become pure poison to the club. I intend to embrace or weakness this season know it's a work in progress and I'm going to enjoy it, where ever in the league we maybe.

Not sure where you get that mate without putting players in weaker positions

Gk:3 Ruiter, Steel, Mika- Sound
LB:3 Jones, Love, Mathews - Better hope Love comes good and stays fit as the other two aren't good enough. Living robbers. Worry area
CB:2 Kone, Browning - Only two for each birth here, not only that only the 2 first choices look the only ones good enough, 1 injury and we're...
CB:2 Wilson, O'Shea - ...playing an already rubbish Mathews here or bringing in Beadling who hasn't been considered for the Seniors yet. Worry area
RB:2 Oviado, Galloway - Oviado should do well but galloway looks all over the shop. Only two senior options which means shoehorning. Worry area
CM:3 Catts, Rodwell, McNair - Reasonably well covered. No probs with the CM.
CM:2 Ndong, Gibson - As above.
LW:2 McGeady, Watmore - So light we'll need to rely on playing youngsters out of position or take our best striker Grabban off the front line with just ...
RW:2 Mcmanaman, Asoro - ...one injury to either 1st choice wide man. Both big worry areas.
AM:3 Williams, Honeyman, Gooch- Well stacked, happy with this area.
ST:3 Grabban, Vaughan, Asoro - Options there for a single birth striker slot. No prolific goalscorers though. Big worry area

Yeah the strongest team looks good for this league, happy with that. Once injuries set in our lack of depth and quality will cause us problems imo. 27 man squad. Only two more players than a Prem squad with a **** load more games including 3 in weeks at times. Plus loads of kids with limited experience of competative football. I think your expectation are to high fella. Too much presure. Keep the best XI fit and we'd there abouts but injuries and fetigue will 100% efect our team selection throughout the season.

I say Midtable, up from lower midtable. And confident of a playoff push next season.

Happy enough. Not happy with the numbers, I still think injury and fatigue will cost us the points needed to mount that sort of challange. But hat's off to the Bain

Call me easily pleased but im happy with that squad and I honestly think we can challenge for promotion.
We have alot of healthy competition for places.
I totally agree Teesside. Infact I just texted my cousin, a season ticket holder, a similar message with the proviso - injuries allowing as we have at least 2 additional injury prone deadline dayers
All in all <applause> for me atm

Just read in the Echo that we've signed a total of ten players, 5 loan deals and 5 bought with a total spend of £1m, **** me!!! is that what we have been reduced to? the club must be in a right financial mess FFS.
True but at least we haven't broken the bank in our efforts to get out of the top feeder league
Now we'll just need to watch and hope :emoticon-0112-wonde and :emoticon-0107-sweat
