I had a catapult as a kid and aimed at the cat from across the back that was walking along the fence. The super-sensed little ****er dodged the stone and it flew through next door's patio windows. I didn't have a younger brother to force to take the blame...
They had more attempts on target than you did in the first half it took you over 50 minutes to register an on target effort. He came with a game plan, you can't say he came for a draw, as a draw was no use to them, had they not been gifted the opener you have no idea what their game plan would have been in the latter stages of the game. As it was they were 1-0 up, so it was job done, they had something to defend and they did, with aplomb. It's called game management
There isn't a switch that you can change the mentality of a team with. We are an offensive team, and its worked well for most of the season, we couldn't just change for 1 game and expect it to work for us anymore than Chelsea could expect to turn into an attacking force when they were trailing against the likes of Villa & Palace this season.
Chelsea are the leagues 3rd highest scorers this season, combined with the most frugal defence. It's a myth that they're not an attacking side, they're just capable of grinding out results when needed, and they lack a prolific front man, all 3 of their strikers have had crap seasons. Stick an Aguero or a Suarez in that side and they'd be formidable.
Disagree there with Suarez, he would struggle with Chelsea's style of play. Aguero could be in any team and be quality.
Lol, he came to defend and hope. It wasn't genius it was obvious. As I said elsewhere, on another day Suarez is on fire, Sturridge is fit etc etc. If it showed any limitations it's in the size and quality of our squad...something we knew about beforehand and cost us 3 points at another tactical genius like Steve Bruce..... That same "master" could still end up two points behind the apprentice at the end of the season so who outwitted who? Leeaue is won by who fecks up least and that at the moment that is us, but in three games time could be a city.... As usual smoke and mirrors to distract from the fact his squad, second most expensive in the PL may only be 3rd best...this year anyway. Put it another way. Does anyone on here think if you had given Mourinho the squad we gave Rodgers at the start of this season Liverpool would be sitting in 1st or second... Don't make laugh.
A draw limits the chance of a loss- it was damage prevention. A draw gets him 1 point. Losing gets him none. Technically, even winning- he's still hardly better off in terms of the title- he still needs us both to screw up again- just as he would have if he had drawn. What his team couldn't afford was a loss- which is why he set up to stifle the game- going for a 0-0 draw.
We are an attacking team - we should be playign to our strengths, especially at home and I hope it continues. However, what disappointed me was the lack of composure from players - everyone bar Allen tried to force things and they easily got frustrated. The senior players should have known better. The mistake completely screwed with Stevie's head and he lost it. The full backs were awful in this game - they offered no width or attacking threat. It's games like this where you need them to stretch the game and this really highlights how weak they are IMO (Johnson in particular).
And that should be our plan b or proper plan a Jimmy, better FB's...And more attacking players to add depth We need depth of quality....so better picks than aspas this summer please! Some more of those intelligent players BR likes....
Demba Ba, Torres & Eto'o were prolific before joining Chelsea On a serious note, just because they have scored the 3rd highest amount of goals does not make them an attacking side. It means they have quality in attack, it says nothing about their mentality in a game.
Exactly - I mentioned this in another thread. This is just the beginning - wait until the summer when Rodgers improves our attack even further, so we don't need to rely on the likes of Aspas.
You can say what you want but the rest of the world knows that you made little or no effort to win the game of your own accord. If you truly believe that you did then you are totally deluded
Hang on. You're not surely trying to suggest that Rodgers is a superior tactician and manager than Mourinho are you? And ermmmm MFAO
You've avoided the point They were ahead at HT so they could park the bus big time 2nd half. If they were still level they'd have had to push for a winner as the game went on as a 0-0 was ****ing meaningless to them
2nd half... absolutely they could park the bus, they were ahead. 1st half though they made no real attempt- it was all about defending and running down the clock.
